Akira Takaoka is a major antagonist in the manga Assassination Classroom. He is the main antagonist of the first half of the manga and the first season of its anime adaptation. Hired as a PE teacher by the Government to help Class 3-E kill Koro-sensei, Takaoka soon reveals himself to be a violent teacher who is not above torturing his students.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- During his days as an instructor in the military, he tortured his students by beating them, as shown by the photos of them being heavily bruised.
- He assaulted several students of Class 3-E for no real reason other than sadism.
- Decided to "train" Class 3-E where he decided that half of the class will die after he put them through his violent training regimen.
- Even when he said he would kill Koro-sensei and save the planet, he only wanted to become famous due to training the assassin that would kill him.
- Tried to make Karasuma leave the school by placing a bet that any student who manages to harm him will be enough, but by handling the student a real knife, he was counting on the inexperience of the student.
- When Nagisa was selected, Takaoka decided to beat him up mercilessly.
- His defeat is played with satisfaction.
- When Asano Sr confronted him, he expressed disgust towards Takaoka's teaching style and fired him on the spot.
- Even if he was humiliated by his colleagues for his loss to Nagisa, it's not played for sympathy for him as he deserved it for trying to kill the students.
- Contracted 3 assassin, Grip, Smog and Gastro to kill the Class 3-E when they arrived at his hotel.
- To take his revenge, Takaoka ordered his assassins to concoct a deadly virus that would kill the students, despite Nagisa being the sole reason for his humiliation.
- Due to this, even the assassins have no respect for him, knowingly using a defunct virus and lying to him so that he doesn't get to kill children through them.
- Concocted a plan using Kayano and Nagisa as bait to finally kill Koro-sensei, utterly uncaring that his plan would kill them.
- Sadistically laughed when revealing himself as the real mastermind.
