Aloysius Minch (Umbrami Minch in Japan) is a supporting antagonist in the video game EarthBound/Mother 2. He is the husband of Lardna and the abusive father of Picky and Porky Minch. He is partly to blame for Porky's downfall into evil due to him and Lardna's abusive parenting.
What Makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- He constantly harassed Ness's family because of a loan he gave his father that he never paid back, which he likely exaggerates. He blames his family for forcing him to live in poverty even though he has a nicer house and goes on expensive dinners with his wife. He takes his frustration out on the 13 year old son Ness.
- He is abusive towards his children (having been a horrible parent and influence according to Itoi) and is heard beating them when they are out late (grounding them for a decade in the English version.) His abuse would ultimately lead Porky down a dark path until becoming a Pure Evil tyrant who is responsible for MANY horrific crimes.
- He helps Porky rule over Fourside by manipulating the mayor, where he is shown enjoying himself with multiple loosely dressed women, despite being married.
- His abuse, while portrayed somewhat slapstick and cartoonishly, is taken very seriously overall and he is one of the few characters not played for laughs.
- Unlike Porky, who at least has a Freudian Excuse (thanks to him) and multiple comical moments (even if they don't detract from his heinousness), he has absolutely nothing remotely likeable about him.
