~ Alvin Marsh’s recurring quote, usually uttered right before he starts to beat Beverly. |
Alvin Marsh is a major antagonist in Stephen King’s It, serving as the abusive father of Beverly Marsh.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- While having lost his wife to cancer seems tragic, this is mitigated when he blames her death on Beverly and gives him no excuse to use his daughter as an essential replacement.
- He is creepily perverted and displays a sexual attraction to his daughter, calling her his little girl and disallowing her from speaking to other men, sometimes threatening her with physical violence for disobeying him. Beverly has a bad relationship with him as he does to her, which Pennywise uses to traumatize her. It is even strongly implied he went as far as trying to rape Beverly.
- He has a copy who is way worse than him who is also abusive to Beverly that being her ex husband (Ex-Boyfriend in the Miniseries) Tom Rogan
Trivia[]
- Alvin is much worse in the 2017 movie adaptation where is sexual abuse is much more fleshed out.
