~ Amy to her sister, Samey. |
Amy is a supporting antagonist of Total Drama: Pahkitew Island. She is the abusive twin sister of Sammy/Samey, who joins Total Drama to keep tormenting her sister.
She was voiced by Bryn McAuley.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- To say she is horrible to her sister, Sammy (who she only refers to as Samey for "Spare Amy") is an understatement:
- Her reasoning of hating Samey for making her wait in the hospital a few minutes after her birth is ridiculously petty, being possibly her only excuse for her actions.
- She constantly ridicules her for being the "lesser twin" in every way, which has resulted in Samey having extremely low self-esteem and anxiety. Her sense of superiority could easily be proven undignified and false as she is shown to constantly steal Samey's ideas and claim them as her own, indicating that she coat-tails all of her accomplishments to get by in life, while doing nothing by herself. She is shown to be incredibly incompetent and instantly blames Amy for all of her mistakes, no matter how outlandish it is.
- She oppresses Samey for being ugly, which is extremely hypocritical because they have the exact same appearance with one minor difference. If anything, she is the uglier one for having a noticeable mole on her face. The smelly swamp zombie she becomes later on also does not help her argument and could be symbolism to show who she truly is.
- Even when Samey tried to get away from her by joining Total Drama (an even bigger priority for her than earning the money prize), Amy joins as well for the sake of beating her sister, so she doesn't win anything. Throughout the competition, she will not just continually abuse her but also at multiple points, put her in harms way for her own safety (sometimes taking potentially lethal measures), often for the little to no reason other than for her own survival or just being mean. She even proves she doesn't care if she dies, such as laughing when pushing her hundreds of meters above the ground.
- Using the friendly façade she used to get her teammates to trust her, she has everybody on their team take her side and have others gang up on Samey. When finally confronted by Samey about her treatment towards her, she faked crying to make her teammates feel sorry for her and all hate Samey, viewing her as a monster, despite making reasonable points. This leads to them trying to eliminate Samey, with Amy smugly smiling when she thinks she won.
- Even after being eliminated, she doesn't become any better and is still vengeful towards Samey, swimming all the way back onto the island just to sabotage her chances of winning once more, which actually ends up working.
- She is seemingly rude to not just Sammy, but also other people, as she is disgusted by Beardo's beatboxing and the already-insecure "giant" Jasmine, demanding to sit away from them on the plane (also worth noting they are both people of color, which could make Amy a xenophobe.) She is a spolied brat prone to jerkish moments multiple times, although she does hide her atrocious nature just slightly enough to put on a faux affable facade to gain the trust of her teammates.
- Despite being booted off twice, she can be considered a Karma Houdini since she doesn't get nearly enough punishment for her abuse towards Samey. Even though she also likely lost any hold she had after being put in her place causing her further insecurity, it’s not played for sympathy in any way.
- Contrary to other villains in the series, she has next to no comedic moments, with her abuse being taken completely seriously, with even Mal at least having a few.
