Anjuro Katagiri also known as Angelo, is a minor antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable.As an infamous Japanese serial killer, he is well known in Japan for his horrendous crimes and is now a wanted man after escaping his imprisonment. He seeks revenge on the police officer who is responsible for his imprisonment, Ryohei Higashikata. Angelo is the first villain Josuke faces during the beginning of Diamond is Unbreakable.
He is voiced by Kenji Hamada (Japanese) and Lex Lang (English) in the anime adaptation. In the movie, Angelo is played by Takayuki Yamada.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
In General[]
- Murders Josuke's grandfather, Ryohei, as revenge for his imprisonment and pinned the blame on Josuke for being "cocky" as a way to mock him.
- Him being turned into a rock is portrayed as a karmic retribution for all the crimes he has committed.
Anime/Manga[]
- He is one of Japan's most infamous serial killers and rapists, having started his career at the age of 12, establishing him as having been nothing but a sadistic monster since his childhood.
- Abducted and murdered three little boys, raping two of them and trying to ransom the third one while having already killed and castrated him, earning him a well deserved death sentence.
- After getting out of prison, he uses his stand, Aqua Necklace, to possess a man into robbing a store and holding a woman as a hostage with Jotaro stating that he already has murdered seven people with it.
- Brutally murders a random passerby and his dog out of nothing but annoyance at stepping at the dog's poop.
- Attempts to murder Josuke's mother by disguising his stand as milk out of nothing but petty revenge for stopping his robbery and later intends to sexually assault her.
- Sadistically murders Ryohei in front of Josuke after tricking him into opening his glass.
- Even though he succeeded in his vengeance, he decided to kill the rest of the Higashikata family specifically Josuke and Jotaro and possibly Tomoko, who he intends to rape first.
- When he is finally defeated, he cowardly to use a little boy as a hostage to convince Josuke and Jotaro to let him go. But when that doesn't work, he pathetically begs for mercy from them and claims that Josuke would be no different from him if he killed him.
- The sheer cruelty of his crimes, his pathetic cowardice and his crass jerkass behavior makes him easily the most loathsome character in the part if not one of the most loathsome characters in the entire franchise with even the main antagonist Yoshikage Kira, being way more charismatic, cool and not quite as cruel and sadistic.
Movie[]
- Despite telling Keicho that he was abused when he was a child, it seems to have little effect on him as a person and has no justification.
- For years, Angelo has killed many people including his father.
- In the film, he took a family hostage and killed the father of said family.
- Despite being shown to be affable towards Keicho, he is only doing this for selfish reasons and just wants to continue his crimes.
