Antonio Perez is the secondary antagonist in Despicable Me 2. He is the preteen son of Eduardo Perez (aka El Macho) and the first boyfriend of Margo Gru.
He is voiced by Moises Arias.
What Makes Him Despicable?[]
- Although he was kind to Margo at first when he saved her from falling into a well, most of his behavior towards her was quite perverted since he made some questionable glances and comments.
- He ignores Gru when he is trying to break up him and his daughter up by continuing to dance with Margo during the Cinco de Mayo festival. He does this while rudely saying it's tradition, and he needs to relax, indicating he uses his countries' tradition as an excuse for his behavior.
- When Gru tries to drag him away from Margo during the dance festival, he keeps returning to dance with her and then kicks Gru in the crotch for no reason.
- He bails on Margo to dance with another girl, causing her to cry from her first break-up, which is played for drama.
- Him being frozen by Gru for breaking Margo's heart is played for satisfaction and karma.
- Aside from his father, he is hated by everyone in-universe, especially Gru, who even wants him arrested more than his terrorist father during the AVL meeting because of how much of a scumbag he is.
- Even his own father, a supervillain who planned to enslave or even kill millions of innocent people for world domination, is a Magnificent Baddie who is far more likeable than him.
- Overall, he is an arrogant scumbag who, despite being a growing boy, never indicates any potential for growth, and it is open to interpretation if he reciprocates the genuine care he receives from his loving father.
Trivia[]
- He was originally going to save Margo from the evil minions and starting to like Gru. If this idea was used, he wouldn't be a Hate Sink.
