Aquamarine is a major antagonist of the Steven Universe franchise, in the series, appearing as the main antagonist of the second half of Season 4 and the first episode of Season 5, as well as a major antagonist in Steven Universe Future.
She was voiced by Della Saba.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- She and Topaz go to Earth and collect humans for the human zoo under the orders of Blue and Yellow Diamond, successfully collecting a number of people from Beach City.
- When confronted by the Gems, she states that Blue Diamond never said to bring the Humans back alive, and has Topaz attempt to crush Jaime's skull which causes the Gems to back down.
- She taunts "Rose Quartz" by stating that shattering him isn't the worst thing the Diamonds can do to him, although Steven doesn't care as all his friends are safe.
- When she catches Topaz trying to put Lars in an escape pod and becomes enraged, she refuses to listen to Steven when he tells her about that she probably acts mean towards others to compensate for feeling weak, and instead gets infuriated.
- She rejects Era 3, teaming up with Eyeball Ruby to seek revenge against Steven and together they fuse into the fusion gem Bluebird Azurite in order to accomplish this goal.
- Upon unfusing and revealing herself, she threatens to kill Greg (whom she referred to as "My Dad") unless Steven listens to her demands, and she and Eyeball later fuse back into Bluebird and fight Steven.
- After defeat, she apparently tries to redeem herself, but successfully fools Steven as she and Eyeball Ruby fly off into the sky, vowing that they would be back for revenge.
- Overall, Aquamarine is portrayed as an accomplished, arrogant and ruthless gem who is incapable of of leniency or compassion, outright rejecting redemption and willing to hate Steven for all of eternity; she particularly stands out due to her condescending attitude, narcissism, and lack of redeeming qualities. Her actions in Era 3 arguably make her the most evil villain in Steven Universe to date, followed by Eyeball Ruby.
