Arnold Flass is a major Antagonist of the Amazon Prime animated series Batman Caped Crusader. He is a corrupt cop who kills criminals rather than arresting along with his partner Harvey Bullock, under the payroll of Rupert Thorne. He is an enemy of Batman.
He is Voiced by Gary Anthony Williams.
What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]
- He kills criminals without arresting them for no clear reason at all.
- He treats his partner, Bullock, like a henchman rather than an actual friend.
- Dent even deduces that Bullock only matters as a "fall guy" to Flass. The fact that the latter angrily attempts to attack him after he kept insisting on the remark means he's probably right.
- He and Bullock called Penguin to blow up the GCPD after learning her son was trying to rat her out.
- Alongside Bullock, he prioritized in eating his lunch rather than helping Montoya apprehend Clayface, only showing up after she and Batman had already gotten the job done, showing how self centered and neglectful he is when he was supposed to work with the law.
- In a rather petty moment, when Bullock asks if he has a pickle, Flass, holding a pickle in his hand and making eye-contact with him, says he doesn't and proceeds to eat it without breaking eye contact.
- When capturing Catwoman, he tried to kill her simply for embarrassing him and Bullock with her prior burglary, only to be stopped by Batman.
- He and Bullock freed a Firebug (an unhinged inmate at Arkham) to cause crimes of arson just to get Batman’s attention. Once Firebug escaped from them, he used a knife to pop the car's tires and makes Bullock give him a black eye, lying by saying Firebug caused everything just so they would have an excuse to use their firearms.
- After cornering Firebug and despite the latter surrendering, he insisted Bullock to shoot him out of spite, fearing that he might tell the GCPD about his escape to cover their tracks. Bullock obliges, killing Firebug.
- After he and Bullock are promoted to leading the task force that hunts down Batman after Jim Gordon was about to fire them, they smugly rub it in his face.
- It is possible that he and Bullock told Oonomatopoeia about Jim Gordon’s location
- He and Bullock attempt to deliver Dent to Rupert Thorne so the latter could kill him for having too much dirt on him.
- He attempts to shoot Barbara and Dent dead, resulting in Harvey sacrificing himself to save her. He follows up on this by sadistically trying to kill Barbara as well before Batman intervenes by taking his own gun and threatening him with it. Although he merely outlines him with bullets and knocks him out, Bruce was nonetheless disgusted and enraged over using the very weapon that killed his parents.
- Flass also has the gall to excuse his murder of Dent as a "righteous shoot" and defend his title as a cop as Batman forces him into a corner, showing how pathetic and delusional he really is.
- Flass is also a hypocrite, as tries to claim himself to be a "righteous" cop, even though he was willing to attempt mass murder and enable terrorism of other criminals, as well as committing terrorism himself. Another example of Flass' hypocrisy was him trying to arrest and later kill Catwoman for stealing despite having committed theft himself.
- In contrast to Bullock, who, while just as dirty as he is, just accepts that they live in a corrupt system and almost seems dead inside as a result, Flass relishes in abusing his power to get whatever he wants.
