| ~ Aunt Grizelda referring to the Lorax. |
Aunt Grizelda (also simply known as Grizelda) is a minor antagonist of Illumination's 3rd feature film The Lorax, an adaptation of Dr. Seuss' 1971 book of the same name. She is the aunt of the Once-Ler and like the rest of her family, she cares only about money.
She was voiced by the late Elmarie Wendel in her final film role.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- Like the rest of her family, she is extremely greedy, craves money and hates nature.
- She and the rest of her family help the Once-ler with chopping down the trees to make Thneeds and ruin the forest.
- She rudely calls the Lorax a "giant furry peanut" which provokes him to prepare to fight her.
- Her arrogant behavior causes even the Lorax to become surprised at the fact that she's a woman, showing how immature she is.
- She stops the Lorax from preventing Brett and Chet from chopping down a tree and tells him that Mr. Once-Ler is not seeing anyone right now.
- Her greedy desire for wealth is further shown when she tosses the Lorax aside when the latter tries to remind the Once-ler of his promise to never cut down the trees, showing that she dislikes the Lorax for trying to protect the Truffla Forest and being an obstacle in the family's path in becoming rich.
- During the song "How Bad Can I Be", she and the rest of the family start greedily chopping the trees down in order to make more money by selling the Thneeds, all without any remorse.
- She leaves with the rest of the family after the Truffla Forest is ruined without any trees left, abandoning the Once-ler (who becomes a remorseful recluse) behind in the bleak forest.
- Like The Once-ler's Mother, who now has to live the less luxurious life again without the Once-ler's money, Grizelda is implied to face this similar punishment for her crimes.
- Overall, she is an arrogant and money-hungry slime who exists in the movie with the rest of the family members in order for the audience to have a reason to absolutely hate them and feel sorry for the Once-ler.
