Babidi is a major antagonist in Dragon Ball Z appearing as the secondary antagonist of the Majin Buu saga. He is also one of the two posthumous overarching antagonists (alongside Dabura) of Dragon Ball Daima exclusive anime.

He is an alien wizard and the son/clone of the wizard Bibidi, who awakened Majin Buu. He has the power to control anyone who has even a trace of evil inside them.

He was voiced by the late Joji Yanami and Bin Shimada in the original Japanese version. In the English dub, he is voiced by Terry Klassen, Duncan Brannan and Bill Townsley across various appearances.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• For starters, he is terribly abusive to his minions. During his first appearance, he seemingly congratulates Spopovich and Yamu for collecting energy to revive Majin Buu, then declares he has no more use for them and gleefully has them killed on the spot. Although Spopovich deserved it because he sadistically beat and almost killed Videl for fun, Yamu sure didn't. He later has his right hand man, Dabura, who came up with the plan that led to Buu being revived, eaten by Buu.
• It's shown that when he arrived on Earth, he or his henchmen killed a family of humans including a child. Their bodies are seen when the heroes find Babidi's spaceship.
• He plans to unleash Majin Buu to destroy planets around Universe 7 so he can conquer it.
• Due to reviving Majin Buu, he is responsible for all the death and destruction that happens in the Majin Buu Saga later on, including Buu killing all of Goku's loved ones (with the only exceptions being Mr. Satan, Bee, Dende and Vegeta). He's also responsible for the events of Dragon Ball Daima, as Gomah watched Dabura die and the Z-Fighters' battle with Buu, leading to him wishing for Goku and his friends to be turned into children so they'd be less of a threat.
• He killed a random bystander just because he didn't know where Goku and his allies are.
• He threatened to kill Idasa and Ikose's mother if he had to hear her annoying voice again, even though she gave information regarding Trunks' home. Note that he himself also had a shrilling voice if not worse than hers, making him a hypocrite.
• He constantly belittles Buu to do his dirty work, while threatening him with imprisonment should he act out of turn. Unlike his father Bibidi, who at least fed him cake to keep him in line, Babidi's treatment towards Buu was so awful that with Goku's encouragement, the Majin turns against him by killing him.
• Took enjoyment in having Fat Buu kill the people of Earth and destroy entire cities, all with the intention of luring Piccolo, Goten and Trunks out of hiding so he could have his revenge on them. When Piccolo considered turning himself in to save the people of Earth, Goku pointed out that Babidi would attempt to kill everyone on Earth eventually anyway.
• When asked by Goku to stop killing people, Babidi declares that he will have more people killed just to spite him.
• He's a weakling (even an ordinary woman was able to throw him around), a coward, foolish (eliminating his minions when he no longer needs them, insulting Buu despite the gap in power between them), has an annoying voice, and has no redeeming qualities at all.
• When Goku left from his battle with Buu, Babidi scolded Buu for letting him get away. This became a final straw as Buu decided to turn against him by grabbing his throat so that he can’t use his sealing spell, and Buu punched his head hard that causes disintegration and then destroy the rest of his body.
• His death was never played for sympathy. Also, residents of the Demon Realm, specifically Degesu and Gomah, find it satisfying and laugh at his death.
• He was so despicable that Vegeta made it clear to never revive him as Dende used the Namak Dragon Balls to only revive the non-evil people.

Trivia

• Ironically, while he is a Hate Sink, his right-hand Majin Buu is Love Exalted.
