Baek Do-hyun and Hwang In-jun are pivotal antagonists from the Korean drama Juvenile Justice.

They are a pair of juvenile delinquents who caused the death of Shim Eun-sok's son Chan Nam-goong by recklessly dropping bricks down the roof, but managed to avoid consequences for their crimes due to the juvenile protection laws. With nothing to stop their harmful behavior, they grew up to form a criminal gang that exploited and assaulted women while filming the footage.

Do-hyun was portrayed by Yoo Ju-won as a child and Kim Gyun-ha as a teenager, while In-jun was portrayed by Park Si-won as a child and Jung Se-hyun as a teenager.

What Makes Them Hate Sinks?[]

  • When they were eleven, they dropped bricks from the roof every day, not caring that others would end up getting hurt by their reckless actions. Their habit would end up causing the death of Chan Nam-goong after he was fatally injured by one of their bricks.
    • The killing led to Chan's mother, Shim Eun-seok, filled with grief over the death of her son, as well as indirectly causing her ex-husband Nam-goong I-hwan to divorce her due to his mother blaming Eun-seok for Chan's death.
  • When Chan's parents Eun-seok and I-hwan testified against them, they both claimed that they were unaware of how bad their actions were and they had simply wanted to understand gravity, but in truth they felt no remorse for killing Chan and exploiting the juvenile protection laws to avoid consequences.
  • After the trial ended, they cruelly smiled at a devastated Eun-seok to spite her even more. This act, combined with Judge Na Geun-hee's refusal to give them a fair punishment due to her adherence to the law, spurred Eun-seok into becoming a juvenile court judge to take justice into her own hands.
  • They would grow up to become even worse criminals during their teenage years, scamming and extorting money from people and luring and attacking several young women along with their accomplices while filming footage of their vile crimes to sell to the black market and to use for coercion.
  • They attacked Kang Seon-a with their gang at a construction site, leaving her traumatized by the ordeal and even attempting suicide.
  • When In-jun was confronted by Seon-a's father, he remorselessly boasted about what he did to her, and even mocked him by claiming he would never understand their pleasure due to being her father, driving him to beat In-jun up in a fit of rage, though it would lead to the father being unjustly arrested for harming a minor.
  • Even years later, Eun-seok was still haunted by their actions, fainting when she saw In-jun's name on the case's document after recognizing him as one of her son's killers.
  • When In-jun was interrogated and sentenced to a court hearing, he lied that he didn't want to be involved and that the others coerced him by threatening him with verbal abuse and violence, though his lies would be disproven when Ko Gang-sik submitted footage of the crime scene showing In-jun willingly enjoying the crime.
  • Do-hyun blackmailed one of the gang's clients by taking a picture of him with a girl, threatening to send the picture to his wife to frame him in order to silence him.
  • They manipulated several young women into joining their gang under the promise of easy money and had their lives threatened if they objected. If they attempted to escape, they would be attacked while being filmed, with one girl even becoming pregnant in the aftermath.
  • Do-hyun taunted Eun-seok for attempting to find the footage of his crimes, claiming that it was no use. Upon finding out that she was the mother of the child he and In-jun murdered, he sadistically beat her up. When Eun-seok asked him why he would live his life so evilly and how he would've acted if he was given a second chance, Do-hyun felt no remorse and grabbed her by the throat before stabbing her with his knife.
  • After Eun-seok fended Do-hyun off, she realized that he had stolen and collected the shoes of at least 12 of his victims (including Seon-a) to display as trophies. When confronted about this, Do-hyun admitted his presence at the scene and tackled her to the ground, and would've killed her had the police not intervened.
  • They expressed anger towards their accomplices for betraying them and silently insulted them, which was especially hypocritical in In-jun's case as he had previously made similar accusations towards them when he was tried.
  • Upon seeing the footage of their crimes being broadcasted to the court, Do-hyun blamed In-jun for causing them to be incriminated, claiming that he told him to leave Seon-a alone.
  • In a panic, In-jun attempted to shift the blame to Do-hyun, who tried to tell him to be quiet before hitting him in a fit of rage, causing the two to break into a heated argument while insulting each other and exposing their true colors in front of the entire court.
  • Even after being sentenced to twenty years in prison, the trauma caused by their crimes would still continue to haunt Eun-seok, Seon-a and all of their victims.

Trivia[]

  • According to Kim Gyun-ha, the actor who portrayed the older Do-hyun, he had broken down in tears while watching the show and hoped that his character's role would exemplify the moral of the show.
