Bandos is a god from RuneScape.
What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]
- In the past, he fantasized about war, playing with toys that resembled soldiers. He would later treat his army like toys when he was banished from Gielinor.
- He does not care for his people, as Armadyl notes. He claims that he doesn’t view his followers expendable if they were weak, but he puts his followers against each other for fun.
- He killed his father, justifying this course of action by claiming that he should have died in battle instead of being crippled.
- While his race did value fighting each other akin to a gladiator, it does not justify him destroying his world and everyone else on it by killing the sleeping god Jodoku Obono. (He did so so he could become a god himself, but he likely also did so so he could watch the world be destroyed.)
- He forced the Dorgeshuun to fight a battle that they couldn’t win.
- He later attempted to force the Dorgeshuun to return to him by threatening their city, Dorgesh-kaan. He did decide to kill Sigmund (a man who was evil as he was) but it wasn’t out of altruism, but because he figured the goblins could still be useful to him.
- He turned the peaceful land of Yubiusk into a lifeless one. He spent his time manipulating the various races that lived there against each other.
- When TzkalZuk demanded a rematch with him, he cowardly chained him up instead. This was hypocritical of him as he was angry at the Dorgeshuun for running from battle.
- He trapped numerous Bandosians in the Warforge.
- When Sliske played a game by having the gods fight each other for the Stone of Jas, Bandos was perfectly willing to play the game. Even Zamorak (god of chaos) decided to steal the stone instead of killing the other gods outside of Saradomin.
- While he claimed Armadyl (a god of peace) was a hypocrite for going to war with him, he was never planning to negotiate with him.
Trivia[]
- When the Bird and the Beast event came out (which decided whether Armadyl or Bandos would die), players got to choose which god they wished to support. Armadyl ending up winning by a landslide due to his charisma, while Bandos lost due to his lack of it. (This could be also explained by Armadyl’s followers being flying and being intelligent, while Bandos’ army were unintelligent and fought with melee, which put them at a disadvantage.)
- The reason Bandos and Armadyl is fought (aside from Sliske’s game) is because they act as foils to one another, similar to Saradomin and Zamorak. (Though while Saradomin and Zamorak both have strong reasons to be enemies with each other, Bandos does not have a strong reason to be an enemy with Armadyl.) Armadyl values peace and cares deeply for his people, while Bandos values war and never cared for his people.
