Bartholomew Bogue is the main antagonist of the 2016 action-western film The Magnificent Seven. He is a powerful, ruthless and corrupt industrialist and Sam Chisholm's arch-nemesis.
He was portrayed by Peter Sarsgaard.
What Make Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He takes over the town of Rose Creek with the intention of making his habitants work to death in its mines, with the intention of stealing the gold and becoming even richer.
- He burns down a church just to show how dangerous he is.
- He kills Matthew Cullen simply for confronting him and then orders more civilians to be killed who had done nothing wrong just out of spite.
- Killed the town sheriff for giving him bad news.
- He massacred most of Rose Creek once they rebelled against him. He even kills his own men in the crossfire.
- He is responsible for the death of 4 of the 7 protagonists of the film.
- He proves to be a complete coward by the time Chisolm has him at gunpoint.
- In the end, it is revealed that in the past he and his men had raped and murdered Chisolm's mother and sisters, nearly killing Chisolm as well.
- He tried to kill Chisolm in the church instead of apologizing for his heinous actions, which he would have if Matthew's wife, Emma, hadn't shown up to finish him off.
