Beni Gabor is the secondary antagonist of the 1999 movie remake The Mummy. He is the cowardly thief-turned-minion of Imhotep.

He was portrayed by Kevin J. O'Connor.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]

  • He is a greedy coward that resorts to betraying everyone just to save his own skin and in order to get paid with Egyptian treasures. Even when he serves Imhotep, it is only because he wants to not be killed by him, not out of respect or loyalty towards him.
  • Despite not being a vile as Imhotep, unlike Imhotep he is not portrayed as being sympathetic, and lacks any redeeming qualities that the former has.
  • He helped Imhotep to sneak his way into Cairo so that he could hunt down the four treasure hunters that the mummy can drain the life out of to restore his humanity, as Imhotep had been reduced to a skeleton.
  • He tells Mr. Burns what is about to happen to him (he’s about to be drained to death by Imhotep) out of sadism.
  • He doesn’t regret his actions, even when Rick confronts him on it.
  • He has no loyalty to Rick, even though they used to work together.
  • While he got trapped inside the Hamunaptra treasure room and died by being eaten by scarabs, it is played for satisfaction due to him betraying everyone for his own benefit as well as his cowardice.

Trivia[]

  • If Beni hadn’t decided to assist Imhotep in killing four cursed men, he may have survived, as he was not cursed by the opening of the chest containing the Book of the Dead.
  • In The Mummy Returns, Baltuz Hafez can be considered his successor, though he is more evil than him because he decided to resurrect Imhotep, while Beni did not resurrect Imhotep the first time, rather Evelyn.
