Bert Coleman is the main antagonist of the Regular Show episode "Expert or Liar". He is a charismatic but mean-spirited famous game show host who surprises random strangers by asking them questions on a particular subject, often embarrassing and humiliating them on national television.
He is voiced by Troy Baker.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- He hosted a TV show that consists of him stalking and surprising random strangers on the street and making them answer certain questions, or if they were to answer incorrectly, they would be humiliated on national television. He would enjoy humiliating people with questions very few people would know and seems to actively want them to fail at his contests, possibly for fame and fortune.
- He has his staff beat up Rigby in front of thousands of viewers, including the other park workers who were watching at the time, to humiliate him for being a "liar," while also getting into his face and saying that he is a "big dumb liar that no one wants to hang out with" in order to add salt to the wound. This all led to his reputation being ruined with the other park workers making fun of him, causing Rigby to seek revenge.
- On that side note, it's most likely possible that Bert has also had other contestants prior to Rigby's appearance beaten up or humiliated in a similar fashion in front of thousands of viewers, potentially including friends and family, for "lying" and also have their reputations tarnished as a result.
- He doesn't appear to care about the emotional harm he puts Rigby and other contestants through, and he even goes out of his way to try to permanently tarnish their reputation.
- In addition, he is a hypocrite as he loves exposing his contestants as "liars", yet he disguises himself and tricks said contestants onto his show in a very dishonest way.
- He has shown himself to be loud and arrogant throughout his screen time, and his demeanor, mixed with his smug, punchable face that he wears most of the time, has made him one of the most disliked characters on the show.
- When Rigby offers a rematch, Bert would tell Rigby that if he were to lose then the episode of him failing will be played on repeat every day for a whole year as a way to torment Rigby mentally and for Bert to enjoy it.
- He got what he deserved when Rigby answered all the questions correctly and punched him, causing Bert to fall into a pixelated version of Garrett Bobby Ferguson's mouth and explode, resulting in his well-deserved death.
- Overall, his obnoxious personality, entertainment of humiliating and possibly hurting people on live television, making them a laughing stock even among their families and friends, and punchable face make him one of the show's most despised characters. Even Benson, who is a jerk to Rigby, is disgusted by Bert's behavior as he has also been humiliated on live television.
