| NOTE: This article only covers Butch's portrayal in "Blue Cat Blues", as the character in general is not a Hate Sink. |
Butch is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Gal Cat) of the Tom and Jerry episode "Blue Cat Blues".
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Unlike classic Butch who was played for laughs and was sometimes friends with Tom, in this episode he was portrayed as serious and with few redeeming qualities.
- Seeing the female cat on a swing, he kidnapped her for himself, but as soon as Tom came to get her, he closed her parasol on it, thus showing that he knew he was stealing his girlfriend, but he didn't care.
- He gave the female cat expensive gifts to make Tom look useless and suffer rejection at her hands.
- When Tom came to pick her up in an old, rickety automobile, Butch crushed him with a long train-like limousine and showed no remorse for it.
- He brought Tom misery by being with his girlfriend, causing him to start drinking and then commit suicide.
- It's implied that he was taken advantage of and betrayed by his girlfriend, who made him bankrupt, and was left to live on the street as a result, which served as karma to him for his crimes.
- He was one of the culprits for "Blue Cat Blues" becoming the darkest Tom and Jerry cartoon.
Trivia[]
- This is the only version of Butch to be a Hate Sink.
