She's voiced by Danielle Threet in English dub.
What Makes Her a Hate-Sink? []
“ | Those assassins were vicious, but not foolish. They never actually dared to attack Seliose. They weren't driven by any genuine desire to help the oppressed. Their true targets were the innocent Chrysos Heirs hidden among the Skyfolk. These schemes only came to light long after the damage was done. | „ |
~ Solabis referring to Caenis and the Cleaner Order's killing of lesser known Chrysos Heirs. |
- In General, Caenis was a pompous politician with a hatred on the Chrysos Heirs (People with Golden Blood). Her reputational fame of killing Chrysos Heirs, as an assassin in order to rise in power, was made to be feared, at first.
- Version 3.3 reveals that Caenis led the order of assassins named the "Cleaners", which their presence was condemned by history. Additionally, the previous generation of Caenis' reputational fame was very overinflated for killing the defenseless & lesser known Chrysos Heirs, instead of the tyrannical fallen-hero Seliose, at Eye of Twilight Sky Castrum, showing a hint about Caenis' cowardice as she prefers killing the defenseless Chrysos Heirs.
- Elder Caenis holds neither loyalty, nor conviction to the people of Okhema, but only shifting stances on what benefits her when the situation changes. During the preparation of the assembly, while Anaxagoras manages to gain the trust on Caenis, he's disdainful towards her power-hungry political opportunism.
- During the assembly, Caenis was so quick to think that with Anaxa on her side, she would accomplish her goal on putting the Flame-Chase Journey to the End, so the People of Amphoreus celebrate the return of the Era Chrysea. Unknown to her, Anaxa actually has his own blasphemous agenda for merging his soul to the Worldbearing Titan, Kephale, while has Castorice ordered to retrieve the Coreflame of the Death Titan, Thanatos as a part of the plan. After the assembly, Anaxa, knowing that he made it to the river of souls, then made Elder Caenis, along with the other Elders who conspires Aglaea as "accomplices" to his blasphemous plot.
- Additionally, Phainon accuses Elder Caenis and her co-conspirators for being a corrupt power-hungry nobleman who seek only those who benefits them. He emphasizes calling them as "vermins" as part of the speech.
- Angered by the humiliation brought by the Chrysos Heirs, Caenis eventually led the Cleaners out from hiding to assassinate Aglaea to usurp her position out of spite. During their final confrontation, Caenis also sent one of the members of the Cleaners to the female child whom Aglaea recognize as a hostage, threatening to blind her as part of her accusation to Aglaea's "neglecting her humanity". Aglaea, knowing that her humanity will gradually ran out, calls out her incompetence and posthumously manages to expose Caenis as a power-hungry fraud, with Phainon rallying the people of Okhema to Condemn Caenis' actions.
- In addition, her motive about Amphoreus returning into a former Glory Days of Era Chrysea initially paints her by a public as a well-meaning leader. She eventually subverts it by taking the child hostage and threatens to blind her as a punishment as she falsely accuses Aglaea's "neglect of humanity".
- According to said child, one of the Cleaners sent by Caenis expressed his discomfort about attempting to blind the child.
- After killing Aglaea and then being condemned by the people of Okhema, Caenis ran away into hiding from the public outcry. The next time Phainon saw her in Dawncloud after Aquila's Coreflame Hunt, she's reduced into a rambling madwoman, went out from hiding, spewing delusional prayers to the Worldbearing Titan Kephale, and rebukes the people of Okhema for believing "golden blooded heretics". She laughs at Phainon, the Trailblazer, Dan Heng, claimed that she had moved Kephale's Coreflame to somewhere else after they opened the Coreflame casket, while being unaware that Kephale's Coreflame was stolen by Zagreus (Cifera and Bartholos) some time ago.
- After that, she's immediately killed by the Black-Tide Hordes during the scuffle between Phainon's group and Black-Tide Creatures, during her midst of breakdown, before the Flame-Reaver arrives to pursue the group. Her death is pathetic, but completely deserved.
- Overall, Caenis was a pompous aristocrat who have committed some acts of infamy during her life as an assassin. In which, her killing of the lesser-known Chrysos Heirs was motivated by hatred in order to rise in power. Additionally, Caenis' ego serves as a double-edged sword that not only serve to satisfy her thirst of power but also made a short-sighted decision that would result her downfall.
Trivia[]
