Captain Badburger, or more shortly known as Badburger, is a major antagonist of the Angry Birds franchise.

He first appears in a comic strip in Angry Birds Magazine issue 3 as well as his undead parrot Crossbones and the sea serpent Justin. He was also made as a mask and a sticker.

Long ago, Captain Badburger was a criminal sailor who was turned into a zombie after attempting to steal the cursed treasure from Skull Island. Now he is able to sail the Seven Seas forever, constantly kidnapping people to make them new pirates for his undead crew or to make them dispose of prisoners. His minions are known to have multiple visible scars or missing body parts with one being completely covered in bandages.

What makes him a hate sink?[]

While one could say he was intended to be a scary new opponent for the angry birds to face and has an evil is cool demeanor, this ultimately isn’t the case as he repeatedly shows himself to be a coward who uses manipulation and zombification to make pigs do his bidding and has multiple kick the dog moments.
He is heavily implied to have only become a zombie because he was so greedy, since he tried to steal cursed treasure.
He uses his immortality to harm others, wether it be making them mindless zombie slaves, forcing them to be his pets or by turning them into burgers.
He is implied to be responsible for the events of the halloween episodes in Angry birds seasons given that he was the first zombie pig.
He is heavily implied to be a cannibal as he knows how to cook pigs and there are bones in parts of ship especially his lackeys have missing body parts.
He recalls the time he basically fed two eldery pigs to brian to the birds, implying that hes proud of what he does.
He is extremely self entitled and doesn’t take “no” for an answer.
He is extremely arrogant and gets on the nerves of everyone he meets.
He makes chuck and stella do cruel and disgusting tasks, only to keep them on the ship because they’re “natural born pirates”.
He brags about his wealth to a unhealthy extent.
Atlhough he doesn’t abuse shipwrecker, theres no proof that he sees him as more than just a weapon that keeps him on top since he tries to feed prisoners to him.
In one disturbing chapter, He orders stella and chuck to feed a starving crossbones, who upon seeing them tries to eat their eyeballs, this counts as enforced cannibalism as he wanted crossbones to harm them.
Brian talks to chuck and stella about how his abuse at the hands of badburger has affected, he even states that he hates eating prisoners.
Its implied that he abused shipwrecker into submission and is trying to do the same to brian
He only works with captain bigbeard (who is actually foreman pig) because he promised to make him rich and his “care” doesn’t extend beyond what he wants from him.
He completely intimidates bigbeard for possibly being afraid of sea serpents.
Its confirmed in issue 3 of the angry birds magazine that captain badburger has no actual friends, proving that he is too egotistical to care for others.
Puts his crew in danger by crashing the ship and shows no remorse or regret for this.
He tries to steal the eggs for his own personal reasons, since bigbeard offered him “something special” in return.
He gets into a fight with red and fails pathetically.
Despite brian destroying his ship, badburger just steals foreman pig’s ship and tries to feed him to shipwrecker, making him a karma houdini.
Shipwrecker lies to him by not actually eating any of his prisoners since hes vegan, further showing that his relationship with the captain is poor.

Trivia[]

Captain Badburger is the only Angry Birds character to a be a hate sink, as other characters are either too funny or have too many “evil is cool” moments.
If he only became a criminal and pirate after the curse and only stole the treasure for non malicious reasons, it would strip him of his hate sink status, though this is highly unlikely as he remembers the events.
Its possible captain badburger is responsible for every zombie pig becoming the way they are as he abandoned some of his men on piggy island after losing to Red, if this were confirmed it would make him even worse.
