What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- As the captain of the Franco Regime, he fully supports and enforces its unfair and fascistic laws.
- He slaughtered many rebels and freedom fighters that he would come across, regardless of whether they are unarmed and defenseless or not.
- He brutally killed an innocent farmer's son by bashing him in the face with a bottle repeatedly before killing his father himself.
- When he discovered they were not rebels, he showed no remorse over this act, instead being merely upset that his time was wasted.
- When the condition of his wife, Carmen, began to worsen, he told Dr. Ferreiro to save his unborn child over her if he was to choose, leading to her dying from childbirth.
- After capturing a rebel, he began to psychologically and physically torture him, taking sadism in the act, even telling him that this is his method of developing a bond with him.
- While he did tell him that he would let him go if he could count to three without stuttering, it was very likely that he would not have done this, considering his sadism, or at best would only have kept his word to make himself appear honorable in front of his men.
- After Dr. Ferreiro put an end to the rebel's misery by giving him a mercy-kill and defying the captain, Vidal shot and killed him out of silent anger.
- When they tried to escape, he captured both Ofelia and Mercedes and began to abuse the former before locking her up and tried to torture the latter upon discovering that she was a rebel only for her to escape and cut his left lip.
- After Ofelia tried to take her infant brother away, Vidal managed to catch up to her and take him back before mercilessly shooting and killing her.
- His death was played for full satisfaction with him spending his last moments being forced to surrender and hand over his son before being told that he will not be remembered at all, not even by his son, and that his legacy will die with him before getting shot in the face.
- While he may have had a tragedy of losing his father and wanting to live up to his legacy, this does absolutely nothing to excuse his actions, as he seems to resent his father for being more respected than himself, and his actions go far past it with how heinous they are. Even his actor, Sergi López, outright states that it is no excuse for his actions.
