| ~ Catalina betraying Claude in the beginning of GTA III |
Catalina is the main antagonist of the 2001 video game Grand Theft Auto III and a supporting antagonist in it's prequel Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.
She is a criminal in Red County, and later the leader of the Colombian Cartel in Liberty City. She is also the cousin of Varrios Los Aztecas leader Cesar Vialpando and Claude's ex-girlfriend-turned archenemy. She has also briefly dated Carl "CJ" Johnson.
She was voiced by Cynthia Farrell.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
Background[]
- Although she is the cousin of Cesar, it's not entirely known regarding her relationship with him as her past isn't explored deeply enough, and it's not known if they have genuinely gotten along well together or not, and Cesar himself is completely unaware about his cousin's incredibly violent nature.
GTA San Andreas[]
- In her first appearance, she is depicted fighting and threatening two unknown men in a bar, driven purely by aggression.
- When Carl approached her, she continued to behave rudely toward him, and when he revealed his connection to her cousin, she immediately insulted him, stating that he was not what Cesar described as a “real man.”
- She killed her boyfriends, which is completely evident by the graveyards behind her hiding place.
- She escalates her robberies, during which she murders civilians and kills police officers throughout Red County, primarily for her own personal amusement and desire for violence; her threats are generally vile and disturbing.
- Throughout the game, she is shown throwing frequent tantrums and constantly complaining to Carl, who repeatedly attempts to calm her down and even admits that he needs a break from her constant nagging.
- She tricked Carl to enter her house in order to rape him through extreme form of BDSM, due to him not writing or calling her and merely seeing her as one of his "whores".
- Although she claims to “love” CJ, this affection appears neither genuine nor healthy, instead presenting as distorted and dysfunctional. Furthermore, she deliberately taunts him by provoking jealousy and encouraging him to fight for her affection when she appears with Claude.
- She also had Carl race against Claude, and when Carl won, she refused to acknowledge his victory by claiming that he had cheated. When Carl corrected this accusation, she shifted focus on who was able to satisfy her with driving skills, which she, of course, gave that victory to Claude.
- Even after leaving with Claude, she continues to harass Carl through phone calls, taunting him and mimicking sexual involvement in order to provoke jealousy.
- While she did have some comedic moments such as her humorous over-the-top dialogue, having some dark humor and her frequent outbursts, they never detract anything what she done as only highlighting her cruel and psychotic nature. In fact GTA III shows her being entirely played dead serious, removing any type of comedic entropy from her.
GTA III[]
- Right at the beginning of the game, she sadistically betrays and shoots her loyal lover Claude after a bank robbery due to her ambitions making him small in comparison.
- In order for her to gain much more power she makes a deal with the Triads to distribute SPANK in Portland. Not only that, but SPANK is a very dangerous drug which makes the addicts become suicidal maniacs. Even turning some homeless people to act into as suicide bombers through it.
- Shoots Miguel in the back for being too much of a coward to defend against Claude before running away, and accidentally allowing Claude upper hand at him.
- Distributes SPANK drugs disguised as coffee vendors all over Liberty City, causing their insanity.
- Kills Asuka Kasen and Miguel out of spite for revealing the Cartel's information to the Yakuza.
- She kidnaps Maria Latore as bait to compel Claude to hand over the drug money, then dishonors their agreement by ordering her henchman to kill him after obtaining the funds.
- Ironically, her dishonesty backfires, as Claude manages to destroy the helicopter she almost escaped with, resulting her death in the ensuing explosion and crash.

- She is also the second Hate Sink from the 3D Universe to be female alongside with Mrs. Cipriani.
