Cell is the main antagonist of Dragon Ball Rise. He is an android created by Dr. Gero to absorb Android 17 and Android 18 to achieve Perfect form, thereby allowing him to kill Goku. Unlike his original counterpart, Cell killing off Android 16 results in Gohan losing his will to fight, resulting in Cell's actions in the Cell Games happening differently. With Gohan's lack of desire to fight, Cell orders his Cell Juniors to kill him for being a disappointing opponent. Afterwards Gohan's torture and death, Cell is met with facing off Goku in his Super Saiyan 2 state.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- This version of Cell is more petty compared to his original counterpart, as he has Gohan killed for failing to get stronger and provide him a battle of entertainment.
- He kills Android 16 and mocks his death, believing that it will trigger Gohan into revealing his true powers. When Gohan instead powers down and begs him to stop, Cell insults him and orders his Cell Juniors to kill him.
- Shot Trunks and Piccolo to stop them from interfering with the Cell Juniors.
- Restrains Goku and forces him to watch his own son die.
- After Gohan has died, Cell kicks Goku towards Gohan's corpse and calls Goku a warrior that doesn't deserve to live.
- Even when Goku unlocks the power of the Super Saiyan 2 transformation, he mocks him for moving Gohan's body away from the battlefield.
- Shows no care for the death of the Cell Juniors, believing them to have served their purpose in angering Goku to begin the real fight.
- During their battle, him forcing Goku to watch his son get killed mentally broke him to the point where he wanted to torture Cell instead of killing him until Vegeta stopped him. He also purposely taunted Goku about getting his son killed in order to provoke him into losing his cool to gain the advantage, making it worse.
- Begged for mercy from Vegeta and promised to give him a battle for a warrior like him deserves. However, Cell's pleas are ignored as Vegeta kills him with a Final Flash attack.
- He shoots Vegeta in the back with a beam, showing that he never cared about being honorable towards Vegeta whatsoever.
- In the final battle, after sensing Goku's power dropping, Cell charges up a powerful Kamehameha to obliterate him and the whole Solar System.
- He activates the ability of Kaioken in an attempt to overpower Goku and all the Z-Fighters assisting him.
- Indirectly killed Goku by having pushed him into expending all of the energy inside his body.
- While he has the same "Evil is Cool" moments as his canon counterpart, they are ultimately overshadowed by his more loathsome villainy.
