Chaka is a supporting antagonist in the anime/manga series Black Lagoon, appearing during the Fujiyama Gangsta Paradise arc. He is an overconfident and extremely sadistic member of the Yakuza, trying to take over his clan and find a strong opponent to kill.
He was voiced by Wataru Takagi in the Japanese version of the anime and Jonathan Holmes in the English dubbed version.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- In his introduction he immediately insults and threatens a woman over a phone all just for the dumbest reason of interrupting him.
- He pervertedly hits on Revy, trying to show of his skills by telling her that he already has 10 kills under his belt. When Rock comes in to stop him, Chaka immediately hits him and calls him homophobic slurs for "daring" to interrupt him.
- He keeps kicking Rock, sadistically telling revy how sad she must feel when seeing him kicking Rock and tries to provoke her into a duel.
- When Yoshida restraints him from kicking Rock, he cowardly claims he was just playing with him.
- When Yukio Washimine becomes the boss of Washimine Clan and arrives in her house, Chaka kills her bodyguard Yoshida, sadistically shooting him in the stomach and mocking him.
- He beats up one of his minions in front of Yukio. While the gang member did hit Yukio, Chaka beat him up simply to sadistically show Yukio what will happen to her is she doesn't follow his orders.
- He kidnaps Yukio, strips her, and threatens to sell her to a coprophiliac pimp. He even tells her his plans in graphic digitals, even telling her that the pimp will be the most sick person, just to make sure she will suffer.
- When revy and Ginji arrive to save Yukio, he takes her hostage and mockingly tells revy he knew she will come for "him".
- When some of his men take cover during the fight, he shoots next to them scare them and force them back into the fight.
- After his remaining henchmen see how vile and incompetent he is, they turn against him. Chaka kills them, much to Revy's disgust.
- After being the only one standing man of his gang, he once again hits on Revy, seeing her as nothing more than a sex object and a strong opponent to kill.
- Even in the world full of criminals, he stands out as the only one with absolutely no respect towards anybody but himself. He also lacks any evil is cool factor, being portrayed as an arrogant and incredibly stupid criminal trying to become a new leader of Washimine clan, despite being nothing more than a low level thug. These traits get under everyone nerves, with even the normally-pacifistic Rock hitting him on the head him with a bowling pin due to how atrocious his actions are.
- He is so horrible that nobody likes him.
- His death is played for pure karmic satisfaction, as his overconfidence ends up with him being drowned by the people he tried to kill. Even in his last moments, he keeps pathetically insulting Revy and Ginji, saying how he is going to kill them, despite being at their mercy (or lack thereof). Ginji only expresses disappointment that Chaka isn't given a cruel enough death for his actions.
- Overall, he was designed to be as atrocious as possible with his death being rather cathartic.
