~ Chef trying to gain control of both the Trolls and the Bergens. |
Chef Bergen is the main antagonist of DreamWorks Animation's 33rd feature-length animated film titled Trolls.
She is a Bergen who used to cook trolls for her town. However, Chef was exiled from her hometown by King Gristle Sr. after the trolls escaped from her grasp, leading her to seek revenge on all of the Trolls for it.
She was voiced by Christine Baranski.
What Makes Her a Hate Sink?[]
- She is a Bad boss to the Bergens, as she wants to Use them as Slaves during the events of trollstice.
- She has spent her entire life to abusing Trollkind, and even in the end, she still tried to kill the Trolls even after they provided another solution to the Bergens’ problem about happiness already being inside them naturally where they gave in to their saying.
- She ate Branch’s grandmother before his eyes when he was a child, causing him to become pessimistic for a long time.
- She planned on killing King Gristle Jr. in order to take over Bergentown as its queen.
- She treated Bridget very poorly, treating her like a scullery maid and leaving her with a lot of dishes to wash, as well as being verbally and physically abusive, as she even threw a spoon at her when she leaves the Snack Pack with her.
- Her defeat is not played for any sympathy, as not only is it accompanied by a rising, victorious score, it is also celebrated by the Trolls and the Citizens of Bergen Town by proclaiming Poppy as the Queen, which she earned due to being the cause of all the trolls' suffering and killing Branch's grandmother Rosiepuff.
- Unlike other villains from the Trolls franchise, who either have comedic moments like Velvette and Veneer, or redeeming qualities like Queen Barb, Chef Bergen is taken seriously for almost for the entirety of the movie (aside of having a fairly comedic defeat, where she getting a spoon thrown at her, has lemons squeezed into her eyes, and gets tripped by Satin and Chenille onto an oven before she and Creek are sent tumbling down a flight of stairs on a tray and eventually get eaten by a hill monster in the end credits scene.) while having no redeeming qualities, as she rejects the chance of redeeming herself by attempting to kill Poppy, Branch, and the other trolls even after being shown that happiness being already inside them naturally and that Bergens didn't need to eat trolls to be happy.
