By order of the Marquis de Gramont, this hotel has been deconsecrated. Step aside.
~ Chidi to Koji Shimazu
Mátenlos a todos!
~ Chidi urging his men to massacre the Osaka Continental.

Chidi is the secondary antagonist of the 2023 neo-noir action film John Wick: Chapter 4,

He serves as a high-ranking agent of the High Table, the Marquis's right-hand man and second-in-command after the new Elder's death, who goes to extreme lengths to kill John Wick under the Marquis' orders and committing his loyalty to the High Table while so.

He is portrayed by Marko Zaror.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

  • He refuses a surrender to arms by Koji Shimazu, the hotel manager of the Osaka Continental, and threatening to deconsecrate the Continental himself just like the New York Continental.
  • He, with his Myrmidon soldiers murder the Osaka Continental employees who were defending their home and John Wick.
  • He called for reinforcements, with those wearing samurai armor and assault rifles, in order to overwhelm the remaining survivors.
  • He partook in the manhunt of Wick, after being given the $26 million bounty and appointment information of the Sacré-Cœur duel at sunrise to stall Wick from ever reaching the location.
  • Once John Wick approached the last set of steps for the duel, he appeared and kicked Wick off hundreds of steps back to square one, temporarily incapacitating him in the process. He would've forfeited Wick's and Winston's lives by default had it not been for Caine to arrive to help Wick in time before the duel.
  • He attempted to kill Mr. Nobody's dog a few times:
    • When the Marquis stabbed Mr. Nobody's hand to coerce the latter to a decision, he took the initiative to hold the dog hostage at gunpoint and euthanize him had the former not remove his own hand through the knife, mutilating it in the process.
    • He swung the dog using his bitten arm to an incoming car's windshield, angering the dog.
    • When Mr. Nobody was held at gunpoint by Wick for attempting to assassinate him, he attempts to shoot the dog at gunpoint once the latter attacked the former. This triggered Wick's post traumatic stress from the first film, to eventually shoot at him from behind and save the dog.
    • Those reasons led Mr. Nobody into saving Wick instead of assassinating him on the spot, leading to Chidi's demise.
  • While his death is comedic as Mr. Nobody's dog savagely bites his crotch and pisses on his head, it's a well deserved and cathartic moment for the audience to cherish after everything he did.
  • Even though many right-hand assailants try to assassinate John Wick as a basis, he stands out as a Hate Sink due to almost killing Wick and Winston indirectly, and attempting to murder Mr. Nobody's dog as Iosef Tarasov, one of the series's most hated characters, already did to Wick.
