The Chief Guard is a major antagonist in the 1984 action-adventure film Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the second installment of the Indiana Jones film series.

He was portrayed by the late Pat Roach.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]

He is shown to enjoy inflicting pain on others as a violent and merciless human being who enjoys beating children.
As the ruthless overseer of the child slaves in the mines beneath Pankot Palace, he would whip children when they failed to work properly, laughing and smiling many times while torturing them.
Despite being flat in character, he is characterized enough to be a sadist who takes pleasure in hurting the enslaved children working in the mines, which easily allows him to be loathed by the audience.
He hysterically begs for help from Indiana Jones, whom he was brutally trying to murder by crushing him in a rock crusher, right before he is crushed to death in the rock crusher after his sash was caught in the device, showing how much of a coward he is despite his gigantic and seemingly unbeatable physique.
He has no redeeming qualities whatsoever since he has no qualms about hurting children out of sadistic enjoyment and tries to kill Indy in a rather brutal and gruesome manner by crushing him in the rock crusher, doing all of these actions without any remorse.
