Christine "Chris" Hargensen is the secondary antagonist of the 2002 TV film Carrie and the main antagonist of the Wattpad fanfiction A light in the darkness.
She is a cruel, sadistic popular teenage girl who leads a group of girls and with the group often bullies outcasts, whom they call "Mortimer Snerds".
She is also the main perpetrator of the infamous pig's blood prank on one of the girls she bullied, Carrie White, and ultimately, the prom massacre as she angered Carrie to the point that she could not handle her own emotions and killed everyone with her telekinesis as a tragic result.
5 months later, Chris had lost her sanity, but remains the arch-enemy of Carrie Nolan (née White) and Sue Snell.
What makes her a Hate Sink[]
- After being revived by way of CPR, Chris discarded all of her redeeming qualities, turning into an insane psychopath.
- Even though she did lose her sanity, she still has a clear moral agency, but chooses not to care about it a single bit.
- She had her father, John Hargensen, killed, despite his attempt to get her prom tickets back.
- After Timothy Donnohue asked how they were going to carry out the plan, Chris threatened to force him and Nicholas Brenzoff to kill each other.
- Shot the gas tank of the car that Carrie was driving, where it explodes after crashing into a Wendy's, killing everyone inside.
- Killed Miss Desjarden due to the fact that Chris blamed her for banning her from going to Prom, showing that Chris doesn't accept responbility for her actions, and blames others for her own faults.
- Jostled Carrie and Billy in her van, smiling sadistically at the pain they are in.
- Attempted to lobotomize Chris and Billy so that she could enslave them to help her in her plan.
- When Nicholas Brenzoff and the members of his Russian mafia group died in an explosion, Chris smiled sadistically at it, proving she does not care one bit about him and the group.
- Blew up an entire bridge, not even caring who was on it when her improvised explosive device went off.
- Used a machine to carry her explosives, as well as a portal machine with the intent of destroying the multiverse and remaking it to where she does go to the Prom, but Carrie doesn't.
- Furthermore, one of the way that Chris was planning to remake the multiverse in her image was to keep Carrie living with her abusive mother, where Chris felt like that would be for "all the better".
- Killed Norma Watson for no reason, other than to torment and spite Carrie and Billy Sr. for her own sadism.
- Tried to manipulate Carrie into allowing her to use a tampon with the sole intent of "helping" her.
- Even though she knows that this would cause Carrie PTSD from her first period, Chris doesn't care at all.
- Although she was refused her prom tickets, Chris brought it on herself, and as Carrie pointed out after Chris was killed, she was consumed by her own darkness and petty vengance over not getting to go to the prom.
Trivia[]
- This version of Chris Hargensen is the fourth h2023graduate villain to be a Hate Sink, the third being Regina Cunningham, the second being Tom Rogan's The Coincidental Reunion counterpart, and the first being his Old Enemies counterpart.
- Ironically, while Chris is a Hate Sink, Billy Nolan is Pure Good. It is unknown why Billy left Chris, but it's possible he did so because of her actions, which is why he ended up marrying Carrie.
