The Circus Trainer is a minor Avatar: The Last Airbender villain and the central antagonist of his lone appearance in "Appa's Lost Days". He is a Circus Trainer who is shown to be very abusive to animals.
He was voiced by Dwight Schultz.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- Even though it was mentioned that he was raised by sadistic Fire Nation noblemen, his backstory was never explored, making the Circus Trainer being unsempathetic and making him unlikable.
- He gets no direct comeuppance for his cruelty, making him a Karma Houdini.
- Refuses to feed Appa even though the gentle beast longed for Aang and was starving to death.
- Like Avatar's other most despicable baddies, his affability was intentionally made a ruse.
- His evil is wanton and willful (unlike Azula).
- He has no redeeming qualities and is taken completely seriously (unlike Zuko).
- He leaves no direct impact on the overarching story (unlike Azulon, Vaatu, Sozin and Ozai).
