~ Clawblade shows the Guardians of Friendship his true feelings towards Wallflower Blush. |
Clawblade is a main antagonist in the Reaperverse of My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship.
He is General Obsidians' second-in-command and a former member of the Dark Five. In the past, he was a Guardian who was disappointed in the Gate Guardian when he rejected his invention, after which he became a member of the Fallen Guardians.
What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]
In General[]
- He is shown to be an extremely hypocritical and deceitful character, who is skilled at manipulating others for his own gain and, due to his extreme control freak nature, is willing to calmly and without remorse resort to physical violence against his subordinates if they do not carry out his orders as he wishes. He also has a policy that all of his subordinates must fight for his goals to the very end (and this is despite the fact that he is quite a coward, as he refused to engage The Pole in battle until he knew his abilities, pitting Wallflower Blush against him knowing full well that she would lose in a fair fight), causing him to have a very aggressive demeanor and attitude towards deserters and traitors, whom he will promptly kill himself.
- While it may initially appear that he genuinely cared for Wallflower Blush, as during her battle with Pole he actively encouraged her to wait for him rather than fight, in practice this is little more than an obsessive obsession with her, as it is made clear that Cloblade prioritizes Wallflower Blush's alternate personality, Greenglass, above all else, who followed Cloblade's every command without question, treating Wallflower herself more as a vessel for his more useful subordinate than as an individual. However, he still corrupted Wallflower Blush into being his loyal follower, forcing her to commit crimes for his own gain. Even if his care for her were remotely genuine, he destroys it by physically beating Wallflower for losing the Memory Stone and for her attempt to redeem herself in the eyes of the Friendship Guardians.
- His disgust towards The Pole and Black Manta can easily be interpreted as him being disgusted only because their noble and standard-bearing personalities and their growing hatred towards him could lead to their betrayal, which in turn would lead to an investigation that would lead Sunset Shimmer and the Reaper of Worlds to him.
- Overall, he has no redeeming qualities or comedic moments whatsoever, and is taken 100% seriously whenever he appears, being one of the few villains in the entire My Little Pony Reaperverse that all the characters show nothing but hatred towards.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Forgotten Friendship[]
- He orders Wallflower Blush to use the Memory Stone to erase all of her friends' good memories of Sunset Shimmer, just to make her suffer.
- Despite his supposed disgust at sending The Pole and Black Manta after Sunset Shimmer and the Reaper of Worlds, he did not care for their methods of accomplishing the mission, only being disappointed that they failed to succeed in their mission, and only disliking them for their noble personalities and standards. He is also directly responsible for their crimes against the Friendship Guardians and Wallflower Blush.
- While he desperately begged Wallflower not to engage The Pole in combat, it was not really out of concern, as he simply wanted to test Wallflower and learn Poul's abilities, which Clawblade himself knew nothing about. It is important to note that while he told Wallflower that he would soon be arriving on the battlefield with The Pole, he could have done so at any time, in reality simply wanting to sadistically torment Wallflower for as long as possible only to eventually enter the battlefield through a portal and kill The Pole when he was already close to killing Wallflower.
- While he showed respect for The Pole after defeating him, it was merely a hypocritical attempt to tease him before his death, as he dishonorably killed him with a backstab without actually engaging him in combat, and then resurrected him from the dead as his mindless puppet to ensure that his most useful mercenary would serve him without question.
- After the Friendship Guardians successfully destroy the Memory Stone, and after Wallflower redeems herself, Cloblade aggressively and repeatedly hits and attacks Wallflower, and emotionally breaks her down by reminding her that he is her leader, to whom she has sworn allegiance, and that there is nothing she can do about it. He then orders Wallflower to get the Friendship Guardians out of her way.
- In a last-ditch attempt to kill the Guardians of Friendship, he fires a heat ray at them, only for Wallflower to protect the Guardians of Friendship by taking the heat ray herself, resulting in her death, cooked from the inside out. Although Clawblade himself was completely unprepared for this outcome, he nonetheless hypocritically mocks Wallflower's death, calling her a loser and mocking her for erecting a statue in her honor as his "most loyal subordinate".
Trivia[]
