“ | Law official: For sometimes a man is so savage, the only way to deal with him justly is by savagery. Colm O'Driscoll is one such man. He has murdered, tortured, robbed, stolen, raped and abused for a decade across five states. Seemingly with impunity. Today, justice catches up with him. Colm: [Laughs] As well you may. I've been a bad man. |

~ Colm O'Driscoll taunts his executioners. |
Colm O'Driscoll is the tertiary antagonist of the 2018 western action-adventure video game Red Dead Redemption II. He is the sadistic leader of the O'Driscoll Boys and arch-rival of his former friend Dutch van der Linde, the arch-nemesis of Sadie Adler, as well as one of Arthur Morgan's archenemies (alongside Micah Bell and Andrew Milton).
He was voiced by Andrew Berg.
What Make Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He is a completely heartless, bloodthirsty sadist that commits violent acts for pleasure or profit with no remorse whatsoever.
- While he was once a genuine friend of Arthur Morgan, he dispenses this redeeming quality and fully embraces his evil.
- He committed countless atrocities with his gang, ranging from murder, torture, theft and rape.
- He killed Dutch's mistress Annabelle, not for the purpose of avenging the death of his brother – whom Colm even admitted he never liked – but simply to spite Dutch.
- He and his gang attacked and robbed a stagecoach full of women and children and massacred them all at the scene.
- He has his men rob a cabin and kill its owner, Jake Adler, which traumatized his wife Sadie and turned her into the vengeful outlaw she is. It is heavily implied that his men also raped Sadie.
- He distracts Dutch and Micah with a fake parley while his gang kidnaps Arthur, whom he sadistically tortures and tries to use to lure the Van der Linde gang to the Pinkertons. This also worsens Arthur's tuberculosis.
- He and his gang kidnap and torture Kieran Duffy into revealing the Van der Linde gang's hideout at Shady Belle. They then brutally murder him by gouging out his eyes and decapitating him and send him on horseback to Shady Belle before Colm sends his men to massacre the Van der Linde gang, including a four-year-old Jack Marston.
- He has no care for his men, treating them only as expendable tools and not even bothering to know their names.
- He escaped execution for his crimes twice by arranging for his men to rescue him, and would have done it again if not for the intervention of Dutch, Arthur and Sadie.
- He acts cockily as he is about to be hanged, gloating and jeering at his executioners, believing he will be saved again.
- While he starts panicking as he realizes his escape plan has been foiled, not only is his death well-deserved karma and not played for sympathy but it shows that deep down he is a coward who cannot accept a fate that he gave so many others.
Trivia[]
- Colm is often viewed by fans as one of the most evil and unlikable villains in the game, second only to Micah Bell.
- A real life Colm O'Driscoll had reported receiving hate messages by fans shortly after Red Dead Redemption II was released, despite having no association with the development of the game.
