Colonel Percy Granite is a character from the Sonic the Comic comic book series, and the main antagonist of the "Earth Attacks" story. He is a member of the British military who was the head of Operation Starwatch, an agency meant to defend the Earth from extraterrestrial threats. After encountering alien life, however, Granite quickly began utilizing aggressive measures and using the agency for his own benefit.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- His paranoia causes him to treat all extraterrestrial life as evil. When he encounters Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary, he keeps insisting that they are spies preparing an alien invasion, ignoring all evidence to the contrary, and keeps them prisoner.
- He makes xenophobic remarks towards Mobians multiple times, referring to them as "mutants", and even admits that he plans to exterminate them.
- He is an utter hypocrite: despite claiming that he only intends to "protect" the Earth, he was all too eager to attempt to conquer it for himself, even though it would obviously result in a huge loss of human life. Additionally, despite running an organization meant to protect the planet from alien invasions, he ends up using it to invade an alien planet instead. Additionally, he refuses help from Sonic because he is a Mobian, despite having forced Tekno to assist him earlier.
- Despite hating aliens, he still forces them to assist him when needed, such as blackmailing Tekno into opening a portal to Mobius while admitting that he plans to commit genocide on Mobians.
- He is very egotistic, as he vividly anticipates both becoming the ruler of Earth and renaming Mobius into "Planet Percy".
- Once he finally invades Mobius, he declares his intentions to not only rename the planet after himself and pollute it, but to wipe out its inhabitants and sell the planet's lands to industrial developers, further proving that he only cares for himself and his own benefit rather that the Earth's safety.
- Although he has a few comedic moments, such as thinking Amy and Tekno work for goggly-eyed tentacled aliens and planning to rename Mobius "Planet Percy", they don't make him any less hatable. If anything, they further indicate how ignorant and self-absorbed he is.
