Colt Fathom is a posthumous antagonist in the French cartoon superhero show Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.
He is the late husband of Lady Amelie Graham de Vanily and the abusive father of Félix Fathom, the latter of whom he created after temporarily receiving the Peacock Miraculous from his brother-in-law Gabriel Agreste. Since the Peacock Miraculous was damaged, Colt soon grew ill after using it, and would take out his anger on his son Félix, blaming him for his illness and abusing him using the ring that contained Félix's amok. Colt's abuse would traumatize Félix and would shape his ideals of wanting complete freedom by any means necessary.
What Makes Him Hated?[]
- Even before Félix is born, Colt is shown to be a very egotistical and snobby man, shunning his sister-in-law Emilie for abandoning her wealth to live a life with Gabriel Agreste, and getting angry with Gabriel after Emilie becomes pregnant before his wife after both failed to have a child, believing it was him and his wife who deserved a child.
- He is referred to as a Lord of War, implying he was an unethical arms dealer.
- After Colt grew ill due to using the broken Peacock Miraculous to create his son Félix, he blamed this on Félix, calling him a monster and is shown to destroy anything that made Félix happy if it displeased him. It culminates in him slamming his ring (which contains Félix's amok and thus his life), which eventually causes the ring to break slightly and cause Félix to collapse, with no indication he had any remorse for that.
- Félix eventually realized his life was linked to his father's ring, after Colt passed away Félix seized the ring for himself, granting his free will and freedom, Because of the proximity of these events, Gabriel kept his son Adrien from attending Colt's funeral, a decision that seemingly left Félix bitter towards the Agrestes. As a result of his father's abuse, Félix became obsessed with ensuring his own freedom, realizing that the same power that gave him life could also take it away, would later cause Félix to form his goals of freeing those like him by however he can, leading him to go to drastic measures to do so, including stealing all of the Miraculous in the Chinese Miracle Box in order to give them to Gabriel Agreste in order to receive the Peacock Miraculous and his own freedom with it, to save for himself.
- There is a horrible implication that Colt was also abusive towards Amelie as Félix narrated, "if he became a fond of anyone who displeases his father", and it showed an arm of a stuffed bunny being ripped and in "Gabriel Agreste", Amelie also wore a bunny mask in the party.
- Neither Felix and Ameile are that broken over his death, and Felix was more upset that Adrien didn't show up to the funeral than the death itself.
- Unlike Gabriel, who isn't much better of a parent, he doesn't display any redeeming qualities or Evil Is Cool traits.
- While Adrien's bodyguard The Gorilla used to work for Colt before he left Gabriel to him, there's no indication he cared about him.
