NOTE: This only talks about Conan in the books, as the TV series isn't considered a Hate Sink, thus only the book version counts. |
Conan Barber is a major antagonist in the Goosebumps books, serving as the secondary antagonist of Monster Blood 2 and Monster Blood 4, as well as the main antagonist of Monster Blood 3. He's a bully who regularly torments Evan Ross.
In the TV show adaptation, he was portrayed by Charles Boyland.
What makes him a hate sink?[]
- He gives Evan three crushing handshakes in Monster Blood 2, each even more painful than the previous.
- When Evan first introduces himself to Conan and tells him about Monster Blood, Conan beats him up just because he doesn't believe Evan's story.
- He trips Evan in the halls and goads Evan into punching him, which only hurts Evan's hand and gets him in trouble with their teacher.
- He ties Evan's shoelaces together.
- He pours water in Evan's seat.
- During basketball practice, he throws a ball at Evan's face and stuffs him butt first into the basket.
- He steals Evan's Monster Blood and stuffs him into his locker.
- Even after Evan saves him from being eaten by Cuddles, Conan still bullies him at every opportunity.
- In Monster Blood 3, he repeatedly beats up Evan. He also hangs Andy from a tree.
- He attempts to assault two younger children with a baseball bat.
- To get revenge on Evan for hanging him from a tree after he becomes a giant, Conan calls the police and fire department and convinces them that a giant is attacking the town. This almost leads to Evan getting killed by the police and firefighters. This makes him guilty of attempted murder by proxy, and he gets no punishment for this.
- He continues to beat up Evan in Monster Blood 4.
- He has no redeeming features and he never gets humbled.
