Corban Yaxley is a supporting antagonist in the Harry Potter series, serving as a minor antagonist in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and a major antagonist in both Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the 2010 film adaptation Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1. He is a high-ranking Death Eater serving Lord Voldemort.
He was portrayed by Peter Mullan.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He helped Voldemort capture, torture and murder Rufus Scrimgeour and take control of the Ministry of Magic, personally placing Pius Thicknesse under the Imperius Curse.
- As Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, he cruelly sentenced Muggle-borns to Azkaban, a fate which some of them did not survive and is considered worse than death.
- He used his authority to harass and intimidate lower-ranking employees, which was seen when he threatened to impose more serious consequences for Mary Cattermole if her husband Reginald did not dry his office within an hour.
- He also dismissed Mary's concern for her children, implying he may have discriminated against half-bloods as well.
- In the movie, he tried to kidnap Hermione Granger's parents to use them against her, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Fortunately, Hermione temporarily erased her parents' memories to keep them safe.
