Cypher Reagan is the secondary antagonist 1999 film The Matrix, the first installment of The Matrix franchise.
What makes him a Hate Sink?[]
- Despite the fact that Morpheus did warn him that he would "see how deep the rabbit hole goes" cypher still developed an immense amount of hatred toward him, to the point of genuinely wanting to kill him and all the other members of his squad.
- When he did his deal with Agent Smith, he not only wanted to be in the matrix once again, but also come back as someone important and powerful, so he ends up being petty rather than sympathetic, as instead of only wanting to live a good life in the matrix, he actually wanted to be someone more important than he was originally.
- He allowed agent smith to capture Morpheus to get access to Zion, while being totally aware of the fact that this would cause thousands of deaths
- He murdered Apoc, Dozer and Switch and tried to kill Tank
- He sadistically tried to kill Neo just so he could test if Morpheus's theory about Neo being the one was true
- His "love" for trinity seems to be more like an obsession rather than genuinely caring for her, as he was still more than willing to kill her
- Unlike Agent Smith, he doesn't have any "evil is cool" moments.
