Dark Blue is the overarching antagonist of Season 3 of the AvM Shorts, and a cameo character in Victim - Animator vs. Animation 11.
He is Purple's abusive father who wanted him to grow up into a fighter, only to leave once his wife disapproved of it. Purple's entire motivation is to find him now that his mother's dead, but no matter how much he tries, he never succeeds. He is the main reason for why Purple is the villain he is now, constantly hurting people and trying to gain powerful objects as a delusional attempt to meet Dark Blue's expectations.
What Makes Him Despicable?[]
- Has been fighting and beating up his son since he was little in a delusional attempt to make him tough, not understanding he's hitting him too hard while doing so.
- As seen by his brief cameo in AvA 11, he refused to help his son even when they were in the middle of a warzone, still delusionally wanting Purple to get up by himself.
- He was always mad at his wife, Pink, for disapproving his behavior, and hated it when she showed affection towards Purple and tried to stop their fighting.
- It's implied through his and Pink's body language during their final argument that he was beating her, or at the very least was very close to.
- One day, he had enough and left his family, leaving Purple, still a child, to take care of his mother.
- It's implied he didn't even bother to show up for Pink's funeral.
- Is directly responsible for Purple being the double-crossing villain he is now, as he commits all of his crimes due to his insecurities about not being strong enough to meet his father's standards, constantly betraying his friends in favor of power so he would finally make him proud by proving himself to be tough.
- While his fate is unknown, it's very possible he never faced true punishment for his crimes.
- It's unknown if he cared about his wife at all, and if he has any care for his son, it's very small at the very best.
- He is such an awful parent that King Orange, who tried to commit omnicide on Minecraft and temporarily succeeded in it before it was reversed, is shown as the lesser evil by not only taking in Purple as his surrogate son, but also having a son on his own who he loved and wants to avenge, that being the reason for his fall to villainy. It's also worth to point out King Orange abused Purple, left him to die and actually temporarily killed him, so it speaks volumes about Dark Blue if, after all that, the king is still the better parent.

- Dark Blue is the only Animator vs. Animation character to be a Hate Sink.
- It's been speculated by fans that he became abusive towards Purple after the Newgrounds rampage, which drove him to train Purple so he can protect himself next time. If this would be confirmed, Dark Blue would lose his Hate Sink status.
