Director Kakuzawa is the main antagonist of Elfen Lied series.

What Makes Him Hate Sink?

• Unlike Lucy or Kurama who have genuine tragic backstories, Kakuzawa has none. While he claimed his kind was oppressed by humans it was long before he was born so it don't hold up.
• He had many Diclonius children either put down at birth or subjugated to painful experiments without any remorse. While it is true they are a hostile species, they are shown to be sapient and it been shown with Mariko, Nana and Lucy they can do good.
  • Later on in the Manga because of his actions he only added fuel to the fire that made the Diclonius hate humankind even more.
• He kidnapped and raped Lucy's Mother to have a Male Diclonius son before she killed herself from the truama. Because of this this prevented Lucy from being taken out of the abusive orphanage.
• Although he has a few "Evil Are Cool" moments and genuine care for his daughter they don't detract from his detestability.
• He has different fates in the Anime and Manga:
  • In the Anime, due to it’s cliffhanger ending he is a Karma Houdini ultimately not punished for his actions due to not being renewed for a second season and who knows if he has even achieved his goal, although that is the last thing, as he will likely would fail like his Manga version.
  • In the Manga, he would be punished for his actions as his brutal death by Lucy is played for satisfaction. Even after his death, his legacy would lead to Lucy's death later on and the cause of the Diclonius-Human War thanks to planting the seeds of hate inside them for his torturous experiments where it would lead to the extinction of the Diclonius and near extinction of humankind.

Trivia

• An early version of the Anime meant to have him kidnap Kouta to lure Lucy to him and another where he sent Mariko attack the Maple Inn before he got killed by Kurama by sabotaging his missile scheme that kill them both. Should either of it kept it would make him more hatable but also wouldn't be a Karma Houdini like the final version, apart from the fact that seeing the scene mentioned would be very interesting.
