Otto Gunther Octavius, later known as Doctor Octopus, is the main antagonist of the original script of Amazing Spider-Man, which would become Spider Man 2.
He was a scientist who became a dangerous supervillain and the second archenemy of Spider-Man. Unlike his final film-version, he has zero sympathetic and noble traits that he had in the film, showing himself as more of a complete psychopath that attempts to commit omnicide with a weapon of mass destruction.
What makes him Hated?[]
- Brutally murdering Peter Parker's parents for hiding the image refractor from him to prevent the completion of his dangerous fusion machine.
- Unlike the final script, he intends to use Nuclear Fusion for the sake of harming others rather than to help others by creating a weapon of mass destruction that potentially kills billions.
- Manipulating Peter Parker/Spider-Man for his own goals.
- Attempting to kill Peter Parker in the same way that he killed Peter's parents after he gave the image refractor to him.
- Killed a doctor that tried to save his life.
- Rampages on the street, killing numerous people and having numerous cops slammed onto the ground with his arms.
- Tries to kill Captain George Stacy and a child (and succeeds with George).
- Hijacks Harry's wedding and causes Curt Conners to lose his arm.
- Tries to brutally murder Spider-Man multiple times for foiling his plans.
- He goes out like a bitch when he cowardly begs to be spared while being electrocuted to death (Spider-Man saves him and leaves him to be arrested by the police).
- Unlike his final script, he doesn't have any sympathetic qualities or any sort of tragedy to him and is portrayed as petty and vindictive.
Trivia[]
- He is the second version of Doctor Octopus to be a Hate Sink (the first one being the Marvel Noir counterpart).
- He is one of the few Unpublished villains to be a Hate Sink.
- If this script was published, he would've been the first Spider-Man movie villain to be a Hate Sink.
- This would have also be Alfred Molina's first role as a Hate Sink.
