“ | Gustavo, cheer up, man. Gustavo, I'm not angry. I had to spank you. But what choice did I have? Look, once every 20 years you forget your place. There's no place for emotion in this. You of all people should understand. Business is business. | „ |

Don Eladio Vuente is the overarching antagonist of Breaking Bad and its prequel series Better Call Saul.
He is the leader and one of the three founders of the Juarez Cartel. Throughout the series, Eladio employs various Cartel members to help grow the methamphetamine business.
He was portrayed by Steven Bauer.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- In most of his screentime in both shows, he mostly lounges around in the backyard of his hacienda. While other Cartel members like Bolsa, Gus, and even Hector work hard to bring profit to the organization, Eladio does little actual work.
- He has Hector Salamanca kill Max Arciniega in front of Gus as punishment for failing to listen to him and for selling meth without his permission and cutting him out of the profits. This would eventually lead to Gus’ obsession with revenge and this also told him cold and seemingly emotionless.
- He fat-shames a mascot that resembles him.
- He mocks and bullies Hector for his disability to walk. And how he communicates with his peers.
- He's greedy and egotistical, as he is implied to know what exactly happened with Lalo. However, Eladio decides that since there isn't enough evidence to prove Gus is guilty and because Gus is one of his best earners, he lets Gus live, This further shows Eladio's greed.
- He has several Los Pollos Hermanos trucks attacked for the Sky Blue recipe, resulting in several deaths despite Gus bringing in a lot of profit in advance
- He has Gaff threaten Gus into giving him the recipe.
- Threatens 2 workers of cutting there arms off if they dropped a single drop of his tequilita onto his cop. He said this in a very normal and happy tone as if it were just a normal thing to say.
- Due to how negatively Eladio has been portrayed for both series, his death via getting poisoned and drowning at his own pool is played karmically.
- He ultimately lacks any and all positive/redeeming qualities that even the most dangerous villains in the Breaking Bad universe have. Even Walter White's most heinous actions pales before Don Eladio's heartlessness.
