Doctor Cornelius Evazan, also known as Roofoo, Doctor Death or simply The Doctor, is a minor antagonist in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. He is a notorious outlaw and sociopath active during the Galactic Civil War who considered himself a skilled surgeon, even though his patients were often maimed or killed after botched "operations". By the time of the Battle of Yavin, his activities had earned him a death sentence in at least twelve systems.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- He constantly performed horrific surgeries numerous times on unwilling kidnapped patients, torturing them and scarring them for the rest of their lives, seeing them as nothing more than "experiments" for his quest for immortality.
- He tried to pick a fight with Luke Skywalker, intending to hurt him before Obi-Wan Kenobi intervened and sliced him across the chest.
- He betrayed his partner Ponda Baba, whom he never showed any genuine care for, by switching his brain with a captured senator's body, briefly killing Baba before leaving him behind.
- He mutilated bodies, both living and dead, all just to further experiment on how to make himself immortal.
- He captured living and dead bodies and injecting them with a serum that turned them into zombies before unleashing them on Necropolis, where the zombies killed millions people and transformed them into zombies themselves; he did this all for his own amusement.
- Overall, he is shown to be a sadistic, sick, and twisted man whose actions are so vile that he earned a death sentence on 12 star systems, which is saying something when compared to most outlaws of the Star Wars franchise.
- To put it bluntly, Dr. Evazan is the exact type of character who viciously challenges the ethics of a "no kill" rule because anyone in good conscience would shoot him the first chance they got.
