Dr. Kamizono (神園博士 (Kamizono Hakase)) is a posthumous character in Azure Striker Gunvolt. He was a top researcher of Sumeragi Future Institute of Technology. He was also the father of Copen (Acura in Japanese Dub) and Mytyl (Michiru). He was described to be a man in 30s born in Japan. After his death, his legacy affects the future of the humans and adepts within Sumeragi Institute after the creation of artificial adepts. He debuts in Azure Striker Gunvolt: Fleeting Memories.
What Makes Dr. Kamizono a Hate Sink?[]
- Dr. Kamizono is known to be a biggest Adept-hating human in the series. He views all adepts are monsters despite being responsible for performing an unethical experiments of humans becaming adepts. His paranoia-induced hatred of adepts clashes heavily of his self-doubt and humility.
- Before conducting Project Azure Striker, he saved his daughter, Mytyl, by extracting her Septimosome. However, Mytyl is rendered mute as a price and the said Septimosome later used by a Sumeragi Brass to a designer child, Joule (Cyan). That said, his later crimes involve experimenting humans into-adepts and he has a dehumanizing views about them, showing his moral hypocrisy.
- The Project Azure Striker has him experimenting an illegal immigrant named Takefutsu, who would later known as Asimov (or Demerzel if Bad Ending is canon). He was later killed during an experimentation of Asimov, resulting him to be an Azure Striker before Gunvolt.
- His death marks the start of Copen's paranoia-induced hatred of Adepts after previously suspected a Sumeragi Brass for his father's murder. Even goes far attempting to kill Gunvolt, who is a second Azure Striker after Asimov.
- If the bad ending is canon, Copen later mellows out of his hatred view on Adepts unlike his father, even if it took centuries and stop his father's creation that has becoming more heinous.
- Dr. Kamizono's crimes outweigh his sympathetic aspects, such as his familial love towards his children. Doesn't stop some of his associates from human experimentation into adepts though. In which leads to the awakening of Elise and Stratos's Septima.
