I am Yado. I'm a man of science. A man of... Higher power. And this is MY world.

You are just a pawn. An insect engineered by ME. I birthed you, I'm your father! And you must obey me!

~ Dr. Yado

Dr. Yado is the main antagonist of the indie video game series LISA, serving as the overarching antagonist of LISA: The Painful and the main antagonist of its DLC sequel LISA: The Joyful.

He is a mad scientist who plans to rule the land of Olathe by spreading a drug known as Joy, turning its users into mutants.

What Makes Him A Hate Sink?[]

  • Yado is implied to have started the flash, which caused massive damage towards the world, killing all of the women in Olathe.
  • Killed his own wife because she was a threat to his plans.
  • Created Joy, which was being used for military advance, and intentionally failed so he could further his plan.
  • Decided to have Olathe be effected by the flash, indicating he knew how bad the neighborhood was, and didn't do anything to stop any of it.
  • Took advantage of a vengeful Buzzo, by luring him into help his schemes by offering him vengance on Brad for "killing" Lisa.
  • Left Nancy (Or Buddy), his own daughter, while she was an infant, to lay in the wastelands until Brad would find her.
    • It should be noted that, while he knew Brad would find her, this still indirectly put Buddy in danger, which could have resulted in her death had Brad NOT taken her in.
  • Whenever Brad would find him in game, Yado would give Brad joy, further trying to support the latter's addiction.
  • Watched as Brad massacred an entire army just to save Buddy.
  • After Buddy is able to kill all of Olathe's warlords and survive all of the struggle, he attempts to have Sweetheart, one of his top Joy Mutants, kill her.
  • Once Buddy gets past Sweetheart, due to Buzzo's intervention, he tries to get his flesh-throne to kill her.
  • Once he is backed into a corner, instead of begging for mercy, Yado pathetically orders for Buddy to let him live, before being killed by Buzzo.
  • Him creating Joy technically led to the mutation and death of Buddy, and the downward spiral that Brad's life would soon devolve into.
  • While most of the other major villains in the trilogy had a tragedy, excuse, or redeem themselves by the end (Buzzo was broken due to the loss of Lisa, who he genuinely loved, Marty was implied to have lost his wife, and Lisa was the victim of a cruel environment), Yado has none of these and is genuinely just in it for power and control.
