Dr. Zed is the main antagonist of the Pokemon film Secrets of the Jungle. He is an egotistical scientist who is leading a project to discover the source of a healing spring, and is willing to destroy the habitat of the Zarude in order to obtain the energy.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• While he claims to have good intentions as he says the healing spring could save countless lives, he's revealed to be a greedy, egotistical man who only cares about taking over the project and proving himself right.
• He killed Koko's parents in a car accident when they suspended the project in order to find a solution that wouldn't harm the Zarude, which outraged him. He ran them off the road and stole a sample of the healing water, and fully intended to kill Koko as well despite him being a baby, calling his survival "a fortunate miscalculation." This makes him the only Pokemon villain who successfully murdered other humans.
• He tries to manipulate Koko into revealing the spring's location, then tricks him by planting a tracker on him.
• He reveals that rather than taking the healing water, he intends to rip the energy source from the Sacred Tree itself, which would devastate the ecosystem and the Zarude living there, sneering that he couldn't care less what is sacrificed.
• He launches an assault on the Zarude, intending to kill them all, and mortally wounds Dada Zarude who was forced to take a hit meant for Koko. Had Koko not been able to heal him his adoptive father would have died.
• His crimes are so heinous that Team Rocket are disgusted enough to send the evidence to the authorities. His arrest is played for satisfaction.
