~ Gould revealing his real allegiances |
Dylan Gould is a major antagonist in the Transformers film series, appearing as a major antagonist in the 2011 film Transformers: Dark of the Moon and a posthumous antagonist in the subsequent films.
He is the CEO of Hotchkiss Gould Investments who is later revealed to be affiliated with the Decepticons. He is also Sam Witwicky's arch-enemy.
He was portrayed by Patrick Dempsey in his first Hate Sink role.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Joins the Transformer cause by siding with the Decepticons, namely assisting Megatron and Sentinel Prime in their goals to restore Cybertron and rebuild it on the Earth by enslaving humanity and forcing all humans to work on their city's restoration, hence Gould allies with them to ensure his own safety.
- Though one might say that Gould followed the orders of the Decepticons because his father did the same and "inherited" him to keep serving them, as Gould states that he has no other choice than to obey the Decepticons, it's more than apparent that while Gould may have been forced by Megatron and Sentinel into working with them, he's fine with his own species being enslaved as long as he gets spared, which is further reinforced when he helps the Decepticons in the Battle of Chicago.
- He was fine with humanity being enslaved despite being human himself.
- Has anyone who uncovers the involvement of the Decepticons in the American and Soviet space missions killed by sending Laserbeak to brutally kill them as loose ends, like the NASA employees Jerry Wang and Bob Singer, with the latter presumably.
- Lusts after his employee Carly Spencer and tries to purse her by giving her nice gifts like a Mercedes-Benz, despite knowing that she is dating Sam Witwicky.
- The Mercedes Benz car also happened to be Soundwave so he could have got her the car to spy on her & Sam.
- Sets an interview up for Sam just to blackmail him into revealing what the Autobots are planning to defeat the Decepticons so he can pass the information to them to allow them to defeat the Autobots and win the war.
- Attaches Watch-Out, a watch-like Decepticon, to Sam's wrist to force him to comply, with the Decepticon hurting Sam's nervous system to force him to obey his orders into telling him all Autobot plans and tactics.
- Also has Carly locked up inside her Mercedes-Benz, who is actually Soundwave, a Decepticon.
- Kidnaps Carly and plans to force her into becoming his wife at best or sex slave at worst.
- Orders Starscream to blow up the spaceship in which the Autobots are apparently exiling themselves so the Decepticons can take install Control Pillars to attach Cybertron to the Earth with little problem, though in reality, the Autobots outsmarted Gould and his Decepticon allies by faking their deaths and not actually being onboard.
- Shows zero remorse over the fact that the Decepticons are gonna enslave all humans to rebuild Cybertron when Carly calls him out for that as the Battle of Chicago takes place, and while Dylan seems to feel a bit unnerved for all the carnage and destruction the Decepticons cause, which he sees while sheltering himself and Carly on his comfy apartment, he states that he's fine with that if he is spared.
- Tells Laserbeak to kill Sam when he trespasses into his property.
- Orders Soundwave to kill the Autobots who were held captive as a way teaching them "respect".
- This action would result in Wheeljack's death, causing a saddened Bumblebee to mourn his untimely end.
- While he has comedic moments they don't detract from how detestable he is.
- After reactivating the Pillar to the Decepticons forces, he taunts Sam about him "saving another world" and telling him if he thinks he's a hero, resulting in Sam smashing him into the Pillar, giving him his well deserved defeat and his own death.
- His collaboration to the Decepticons and involvement in the Battle of Chicago would haunt the Transformers for years, as humanity started seeing them in a negative light and all the lives the Decepticons claimed during that battle led the U.S. government to authorize the creation of the CIA agent Harold Attinger's Cemetery Wind black ops unit, led by James Savoy and the Cybertronian bounty hunter Lockdown, which would hunt down all Transformers and even their human allies, which makes Dylan partially responsible for nearly causing the Transformers to go extinct and disillusioning Optimus Prime with humanity until he comes across the Yeager family.
