| “ | Today you awake to a world in the grip of chaos and corruption. I will restore order, I will retake what is mine. I will crush any idea of freedom. I will slaughter without mercy. I will conquer without compassion. I will now lead you past the Great Wall. | „ |

The Dragon Emperor (real name: Qin Han), commonly referred to as Emperor Han, is the main antagonist of the 2008 feature film The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, the third and final installment of The Mummy trilogy.
He was an oppressive emperor who, after becoming encased in a terracotta soldier when he died, seemingly gained immortality and attempted to take over China and the rest of the world. Resurrected by General Yang, he decided to resume his world-conquering conquest, encountering the O'Connell family in the process.
He was played by Jet Li.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
In General[]
- He is overwhelmingly and obnoxiously arrogant throughout the movie, as he constantly speaks and acts as though everyone around him is beneath him, whether it’s his own Allies or not.
- Even before becoming cursed, he suspects betrayal everywhere, leading him to control, micromanage, and intimidate those closest to him.
Background[]
- Even before becoming cursed, he was already an awful person as he was an heartless and bloodthirsty emperor, who conquered many territories in early China, slaughtering many innocents in his path, without any feeling. He had the survivors made into slaves who later built the Great Wall and filled it with his victims, including his own servants. To add salt in the wound, he used his mystical art to imprison their souls within the Wall to strengthen it, stopping them from entering the afterlife (ironically, it ensured Zi's success in bringing them back to life to battle his Terracota Army).
- Obsessed with possessing her, he treated Zi Yuan as property, ignoring her autonomy and desires to that point, he forbid anyone from touching Zi, making his fixation deeply predatory and nothing but perverted rather than loving.
- When she defies him, he burns her village, murders Ming, and tries to force her loyalty, demonstrating vindictive rage and absolute disregard for her humanity.
- Despite Ming’s unwavering service and true loyalty, Han kills his best friend out of pure and petty jealousy when he suspects Ming of loving Zi, showing his paranoia and cruelty.
- His attempt to gain eternal life triggers devastation across China and ultimately leads to the curse that affects both him and Bronze soldiers, this is not played for sympathy.
- Had Zi decided to stay with him, he still would've executed Ming, hence her prior response to him that made him prove her right.
- He would have gotten the type of immortality that he wanted, if he just simply just let Ming and Zi Yuan marry in the first place, showing much of a petty pervert he is.
- Had Zi decided to stay with him, he still would've executed Ming, hence her prior response to him that made him prove her right.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor[]
- Treats Rick O'Connell not as a worthy opponent but as a nuisance to be crushed, and tries to kill him brutally during their confrontations.
- Has no hesitation in killing the young excavator who accidentally awakens him, showing total indifference toward innocent human life.
- Targets Evy simply because she stands between him and his imperial resurrection, showing how little he cares about collateral damage.
- After tracking down Zi to her home in invading Shangri-La, he bathed himself in Shangri-La's mystical waters to make himself immortal before he kidnapped Zi's daughter, Lin (who was fathered by Ming), intending to make her his eternal slave not only out of spite against Zi, but also out of lust due to her beauty, again showing us how much of a disgusting pervert he is.
- He so full of greed without any noble deed that Causes the death of Lin and all of the temple’s protectors so he can steal the Pool of Eternal Life, showing his willingness to destroy sacred traditions for his own selfish gain.
- Intends to unleash his immortal terracotta soldiers on humanity, threatening global genocide purely to satisfy his imperial ego.
- While he is pretty cool, he lacks the charm, wit, sophistication and even sympathy that Imhotep had, also his pervertedness, pettiness, and arrogance complete water down anything enjoyable about him.
