“ | Don't scream, Sunset. She won't die from this. After all, he already possessed a full set of Friendship Magic and survived, which means he can survive this too. I have to explain everything to her properly, to break her spirit, to kill her. If she continues to resist her fate, I will use my Electricity Magic on her... Let her fry. | „ |
~ Energyreaper to Sunset Shimmer |
“ | What does it mean to be honest in fulfilling your role in this world? The hero performs the duties of a hero. The villain performs duties. Great forces of good, like the Guardians, protect everyone and everything. And the Elements of Disharmony, like me, defend the natural order between Harmony and Disharmony. No matter what happens. Even at the cost of your own and other lives. You know, I think. that those who do not understand their role in this world, and those who do not understand their responsibilities to others, should not be allowed to live. And you? What is your responsibility? It's about giving me Twilight and disappearing on her own. If you can’t or don’t want to, when your superiors order you, all that remains is to kill you. | „ |
~ Life position of the Energyreaper |
Energyreaper is one of the main antagonists of the Equestria Girls film My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games, as well as a minor antagonist in My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree and My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Magical Movie Night and one of the main antagonists of My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Revenge of Disharmony.
He is one of the sons of the Crisis, with the ability to control energy, which possessed Reaper of Worlds, and then Sci-Twi, in order to destroy the Human World. He is also the leader of the Electrons squad (in which, after the events of Friendship Games, the survivor Midnight Sparkle was included).
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
In General[]
- While it may be somewhat tragic, as his past history of being bullied, physically abused, and ridiculed by his stronger brothers due to his weakness in comparison to them has shaped him into a pathological coward who is afraid to fight back against those stronger than him, the Energyreaper himself goes too far to allow this tragedy to be sympathetic, as he simply chose to follow the easy path of gaining power and being able to surpass others in strength by training his powers by killing the weak and innocent, with the policy that "if he, as the weak, had to suffer, then let the other weak ones take all his pain from the past."
- Unlike the other New Elements of Disharmony from the Human World shown in the Reaperverse, with the exception of Night Gaunt and Burndown, who are either inconsistently despicable yet caring characters like Midnight Reaper or mentally scarred by their tragic pasts but have redeeming and sympathetic qualities as well as completely good intentions like Forestfear, Energyreaper is an exceptionally selfish, cowardly, petty and hypocritical psychopath who puts his own identity and self-protection above all else and has no noble reason whatsoever for conducting his campaign to train his powers on those weaker and more innocent than himself, instead killing the weak purely for the sadistic amusement and pathological cowardice of having conflicts with anyone stronger than himself.
- He is easily the most vile Element of Disharmony in the entire Reaperverse, having the highest kill count of all the other Elements of Disharmony combined and is largely responsible for several events in the series, both directly and indirectly, and even despite his own infrequent appearances, his actions still continue to haunt and affect the characters.
- He also has a rather personal villainous stance towards Sci-Twi, threatening to kill Spike, a close friend of hers who was only a puppy, as well as a rather personal villainous stance towards the Reaper of Worlds, having psychologically scarred him for quite some time with false thoughts about his words and actions towards Crystal Prep.
- All of his care, respect, and loyalty to Forestfear are not genuine, as deep down he deeply envies his status as the Second New Element of Disharmony from the Human World, as well as deeply hates his noble and caring nature, and he is willing to abandon him to his fate without hesitation simply because his help in protecting the Energyreaper's life began to become disadvantageous to the latter, thus submitting to his status and authority purely out of delusional fear for his own skin.
Past[]
- He chose to train on those weaker than him, aiming to surpass his brothers in everything. While his past killings are not shown, they are heavily implied by the fact that he was able to achieve the status of the Third New Element of Disharmony from the Human World.
- He killed Sunset Shimmer's human counterpart from the Human World, as well as her family, simply to train his abilities on them. He even keeps their skulls as battle trophies.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games[]
- He possesses the Reaper of Worlds and uses his body to regain physical form and practice his abilities on Midnight Sparkle.
- What makes his possession even worse is that he has full access to the Reaper of Worlds' mind, and uses this as an excuse to convince the other Friendship Guardians and the Crystal Prep students that he was secretly thinking that he wanted to kill them for everything they did to Canterlot High School, essentially falsely accusing the Reaper of Worlds of something he would never do, all just to spite the Reaper himself and shake his friends' trust in him.
- What makes his actions even worse is that after his separation from the Reaper of Worlds, the latter retained memories of what he said to the Guardians of Friendship and other students, essentially indirectly instilling in him the idea that he supposedly really thought and wanted to do such a thing, thereby leaving the Reaper of Worlds psychologically scarred and deeply remorseful for actions he never committed for quite some time.
- He tries to test his abilities on Spike by electrocuting him, who was just a puppy.
- He tries to torture Sci-Twi in an extremely cruel manner simply for calling him a monster who attacks the weak, as well as for her calling him a weakling. Before that, he also killed a random Crystal Prep student by piercing him with an electric beam, just to prepare his wrath for Sci-Twi.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree[]
- He tortured Sci-Twi's mind, demanding that she release him and his entire team from her head, threatening to destroy everything she held dear if she refused.
- Although he saved Forestfear from the Friendship Guardians' attack, it was pure pragmatism, as he simply wanted to use him as a tool to take revenge on Sci-Twi and everyone dear to her.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Revenge of Disharmony[]
- Although he teamed up with the other Elements of Disharmony to take revenge on the Friendship Guardians, he was actually driven by pure pragmatism, as he no longer saw his fellow Elements as anything other than tools to exact revenge on Sci-Twi and everyone she cared about.
- He directly displays the Electrons' body parts as battle trophies, thus proving that he killed them simply because they were no longer useful to him in protecting himself.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Element of Disharmony from the Human World who is Hate Sink.
- In the Reaperverse, a fan theory about the death of Sunset Shimmer's human counterpart was confirmed. But it was not the original Sunset who killed her, but the Energyreaper himself, additionally killing her entire family. This is also proven when he shows the Equestrian version of Sunset the skulls of her human version and the human version of her family.
