Father Loutermilch is a major antagonist in the 2017 survival horror video game Outlast 2, serving as the main antagonist of the school segments in the game. He was a music teacher and a priest at the K-12 St. Sybil high school attended by Blake Langermann, his future wife Lynn, and Jessica Gray.
He was voiced by Karl Graboshas.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- There are many signs throughout the game that indicate Loutermilch is a pedophile who molested Jessica while she was in the fourth grade, using her abusive father to blackmail her into going along with it. Said signs include these reversed audio recordings, this email, his quite graphic character model as the Stalker (which can even be seen masturbating if you look close enough), him caressing her face, and her outright begging Blake to stay as he's forced to leave the two alone in a classroom.
- When Jessica finally has enough of his abuse, Loutermilch chases her into a stairwell and kills her by beating and throwing her down the stairs, after which he staged her death as a suicide via hanging.
- He hypocritically scolds Blake for having suppressed romantic feelings towards Jessica although his own feelings towards her are far worse.
- He takes zero responsibility for his actions, full-heartedly thanking God for killing Jessica in the aforementioned hidden backwards messages.
- His actions continue to haunt Blake as an adult both figuratively and literally (as a demon called the Stalker during the dream sequences at his old school), as he clearly blames himself for being unable to save Jessica.
- He calls Blake a "diseased cocksucker" over the phone, implying homophobia.
- He never gets punished for his actions since Blake was the only one who saw any semblance of what really happened to Jessica, thus leaving him free to possibly victimize more people in the future.
- Alongside Jeremy Blaire, he is one of the only Outlast villains to be perfectly sane and lack any sort of tragedy or Freudian excuse.
Trivia[]
- Although Loutermilch is indeed a disgusting bastard, his pedophilia was thankfully only heavily implied rather than outright shown, as these cut audio files indicate that there was originally gonna be a very graphic rape scene between him and Jessica. If these were put in the game's final draft, it would've made him worse.
- So far, he is one of the two Outlast characters to be Hate Sink, along Jeremy Blaire.
