Well, silly. I want you to learn the lesson I died to learn. We’re going to try a little exercise, if you don’t mind. […] I’m going to attack you, Papyrus. For real. And I want you to fight me. I want you to fight me for real. I want to see what you can do when you don’t pull your punches. […] I know you don’t, friend, but if you don’t, then I’ll have to find another way to teach you the lesson. Now, I know the great Papyrus wouldn’t dream of running away like a coward, would he? Because that would disappoint me. […] Of course we are, silly goose. You are my favourite, after all. Now, are you ready to fight like your life depends on it? Because guess what? It does.
~ Flowey to Papyrus in Chapter 1, and starting the latter's abuse.

Asriel Dreemurr, better known as Flowey the Flower, is the titular main antagonist of Flowey Is Not a Good Life Coach.

Under the guise of coaching, he physically and psychologically tortures Papyrus throughout the story, causing him to distance himself from his friends and family. When Papyrus attempts to befriend Flowey or escape from his abuse, Flowey gaslights him and makes him more and more miserable.

What Makes him Despicable?[]

In General[]

  • While this Flowey still shares his mainstream version's tragedy of having his original form and Chara die, he ends up using this backstory as an excuse for his actions. This Flowey also does not express any care towards Chara, and his worst qualities in arrogance, cruelty, and manipulativeness are highlighted even further here. Lastly, all of his crimes he does are done solely For the Evulz in one of his runs, meaning he didn't have any good intentions from the start.
  • Whenever Flowey praises Papyrus for improving during his "training" sessions or being friendly in general, this is solely to manipulate Papyrus.
  • Threatens to not only kill Papyrus, but also his friends and family if he ever tells about the sessions to his loved ones. This causes Papyrus to progressively cut himself away from his friends.
  • At various points, Flowey abuses Papyrus by either through physical harm or by gaslighting him.
  • In other timelines, the narration directly states how Flowey either killed Papyrus or deserted him to grieve.
  • He regards individuals, such as Asgore, Sans, and other monsters in the Underground, beneath him.
  • Overall, Flowey's sadistic acts are so despicable that the author regards him with open disgust, showing how cruel he is.

Specific Acts[]

  • When Papyrus expresses interest in training with Flowey, the latter sinisterly warns him he should fight like his life depended on it.
  • In one training session, when Papyrus expresses how physically and mentally exhausted he is from the sessions, Flowey asks him if he was ever the one in control, telling him that he doesn't ever say no to Flowey.
  • Within the first six chapters of the story, Papyrus already internally expresses interest in killing something.
  • Disrupts one of Undyne and Papyrus's training sessions, causing Undyne to accidentally get hit by Papyrus.
  • In another session, Papyrus screams and threatens Flowey for his abuse, though Flowey unapologetically asks if he was ever in control again.
  • When Sans investigates Papyrus' abuse, he ends up getting arrested due to Papyrus' injuries and Sans' tendency to hide things.
  • Breaks Papyrus' jaw four times, his vertebra, and his arm in three separate sessions.
  • Even when Papyrus heals Flowey's wounds in one session, Flowey ungratefully attacks him again to manipulate the skeleton into not thinking he's in any danger.
  • Pettily steals Nice Cream Guy's Nice Cream.
  • Demands Papyrus to kill a female Snowdrake, who is only a young child.
  • When confronted about his intentions, Flowey states how he only wants to see Papyrus kill.
  • Attempts to kill Undyne, Sans, Papyrus, Dogamy, and Dogressa upon them confronting him.
  • Before dying, Flowey expresses content upon seeing Papyrus finally kill him, and refuses to RESET, leaving him and his friends traumatized over his actions.
