Frank Cotton is the main antagonist of the 1987 Clive Barker film Hellraiser. He is a resurrected corpse who uses Julia to kill men for him, so he can become human again. He is Larry’s brother, Julia’s boyfriend and Kirsty’s Uncle.
His human form is portrayed by Sean Chapman. His skinless form is played by Oliver Smith. When he wears his brother Larry's skin he is played by Andrew Robinson, who played Scorpio in Dirty Harry.
What Makes Him a Hate Sink?[]
- Frank pursues every forbidden pleasure with no concern for consequences, ethics, or the people he destroys along the way.
- He emotionally controls Julia, uses her desires against her, and turns her into a murderer who kills for him — all without the slightest remorse.
- Frank treats human beings as disposable meat, killing them solely to regenerate his own body.
- Even by horror standards, killing his brother Larry, then wearing his skin, is one of the film’s most vile acts.
- He is a narcissist. Frank believes he deserves everything he wants — flesh, devotion, power — and feels no empathy for anyone else.
- He enjoys causing pain, tormenting both Julia and Kirsty, and inflicting suffering whenever it benefits him.
- He is also adulterous, as he is seen or mentioned sleeping with other women, meaning he is unfaithful.
- Frank hides behind others, lets Julia do the killing, and tries to flee from the Cenobites he summoned himself.
- Every word out of Frank’s mouth is self-serving. He lies to Kirsty, Julia, and the Cenobites with no hesitation.
- He violates moral boundaries, marital boundaries, and even the boundary between life and death without a shred of shame
- He lacks the charm and coolness factor of Pinhead and the Cenobites. All of this makes his brutal death for his horrific actions well-deserved.
