Freed Sellzen is a major antagonist in High School DxD. He is an free-lance exorcist with a sadistic hatred towards demons and monsters alike who offers his services to more powerful individuals.

What Makes Him a Hate Sink?

• He has a xenophobic and sadistic hatred towards demons and monsters (or innocent people who remotely affiliate with them) for no reason whatsoever. His hatred is even more petty due to the fact that he doesn't believe in God in the first place.
  • Despite this, he hypocritically allies himself with Diodora Astaroth and mutates into a monster to destroy the party.
• He is a sexual deviant who enjoys the thought of sexually torturing women. The most obvious example is when he beats and attempts to rape Asia when she fails to put up a barrier, claiming "nothing is wrong with a well-meaning priest to have his way with a tramp like her." He also thinks of raping Irina and makes numerous sexual comments to some of the ORC members.
• He is a massive Kick the Dog sadist who constantly trash talks his enemies, such as threatening the newly recruited Issei by talking about how he'll brutally murder him and rape Asia in front of her, mocking Kiba about his traumatizing past and tries to kill him or when he mocks the party about how Diodora will rape Asia and destroy any hope she has left.
• Out of his own sadism and possible greed, he allies himself with more powerful individuals in their heinous goals (one being Diodora, a serial rapist even worse than him.)
• While he has plenty of comedic moments (especially in the English dub) they are overshadowed by how he is treated as a complete Hate Sink in-universe who manages to piss everybody off and drives up the tensions with his horrifying actions, especially upon his introduction.
• His death is played with satisfaction as he is pathetically defeated in seconds by Kiba (after transforming into a mutant hybrid) then spends his last moments taunting the party, only for him to get a quick anti-climactic death and is never missed by anybody.

• Him, Raynare, Valper Galilei and Diodora Astaroth are the only DxD Hate Sinks on this wiki SO FAR.
• Freed is an interesting Hate Sink as while his light novel and subbed anime counterparts are unanimously hated, his English dub lines are incredibly hilarious to many fans, making him liked by many fans. However his dub counterpart is still treated as a Hate Sink in-universe so he counts too.
