Dr. Friedrich Steiner is a major antagonist of the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops. The creator of the deadly Nova 6 Toxin, Steiner worked for the Third Reich, but in the closing days of World War 2, decided to defect to the Soviet Union as soon as it was clear Germany would lose. Steiner would assist Dragovich in his plan to unleash Nova 6 across the United States, but contacts American intelligence as soon as his role in the chemical's creation is revealed, negotiating his life once again in exchange for stopping an incoming attack by Dragovich's agents. However, a brainwashed Mason would ruin this plan, killing him for all his crimes.

What makes Him a Hate Sink?

• Worked for the Nazis in World War 2 and created the Nova 6 chemical weapon, presumably commiting war crimes during his research.
• Betrayed the Waffen-SS task force that he belonged to, having them all killed by Dragovich's forces, not out of shame for working with the Third Reich, but to save his own skin, showing he has no loyality to his country.
• Calls Reznov a "Russian dog", referincing the Nazism's contempt for slavic peoples, which is ironic considering he betrayed his fellow Nazis to work for Dragovich, a Russian, showing his hypocrisy.
• Used Reznov and his team as test subjects for Nova 6.
• Aided in Dragovich's attempted terrorist attack against the United States, brainwashing several sleeper agents to deploy Nova 6 in the country.
• When his creation of Nova 6 was revealed, Steiner attempted to bargain for his life again in exchange for giving information on how to stop it, not out of any remorse, but to save himself once again, but a brainwashed Mason found Steiner and gave him a well-deserved death.
• Although it's mentioned that he suffered deeply in his youth because of night terrors and paranoia from growing up in war times, it is overall a lowly petty excuse for his involvement in the war zone.
• Overall, Steiner is nothing but a treacherous coward that commits utter enormities with no remorse and will betray anyone he works under to save his skin. Also unlike Dragovich and Kravchenko, who are also purely evil yet have several cool moments, he is completely detestable and his death is very cathartic.
